YOU JERK!

haha, j/k.

Reminds me of when I hit a deer. It was the day before Christmas and my grandpa had to come get me. On the way back, we hit a deer in his suv. What a night.

Yes. The least you could have done is go over and make sure hes dead.
But I guess your old junker was more important than a animals suffering...
Things hit by a truck that aren't moving are usually dead.

People kill these animals for fun, even I used to do it as I used to go out to the hunt but it was an accident and you can't change the past and bring things back from the dead so why be hung up on guilt?

Real. We (Grandfather and I) found it at an estate auction. Actually, we could two, plus 2 1861 Colt Navys and 3 1863 Colt Army.

No you are not heartless, though I think you have a legal responsibility to report it to local authorities or dept of fish and game or w/e, depending on your local legislation. But yeah...It's a deer, they get hit by trucks all the time sometimes if you are lucky you get to keep the meat, depending on the responding officer and what legislation requires.

If it was a person or a pet that is where I would end up with remorseful feelings and such and I would find it strange or "heartless" if someone else didn't stop and get help for the person, or try and locate the owner of the pet.

Considering that hitting a deer can result in YOUR death you shouldn't feel bad walking away from it all.

Well I wouldn't call you a "heartless bastard", but I do think you could've at least gone to see if the deer was alive, call your local information/non-emergency line and tell them about it, or something at least.

You know, it's like the reason we eat so many burgers, cows just stay foot while a hungry cave man ran towards them. If the animal is stupid enough not to move you're not heartless.

It's just a deer, some people shoot them for food so an accidental killing because it ran in front of your vehicle isn't your fault especially since you attempted to break.

I wouldn't be worried about the deer, mind you. According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, every year about 1.5 million car accidents are caused due to deer, resulting in $1 billion in vehicle damage, about 150 human fatalities, and over 10,000 injuries.

If I were you, I'd thank my stars that neither of you were hurt.

No you are not heartless. I personally would have checked on it and shot it if it was badly injured.

Well, the fact that you created this post at all suggests that you are not.

EDIT

"No. Deer, and especially Bucks, suck. Stupid animals. Take it from a guy who hunts, take the body, sell it to whoever (as long as the trauma wasn't too bad) and move on."

That, on the other hand, is a heartless bastard.

You killed a deer and did not EAT IT? You heartless bastard! Kids in Africa are starving and you waste free food like that?

On a serious note, though, if the deer was already dead, you didn't let it agonize for hours on the side of the road, so you're all right in my book.

Its all whatever man. I shoot deer all the time, so when I hit one with my truck I'm like "shit, could've shot it. My friend actually eats the animals he hits. Possums, deer, squirrels sometimes (if they aren't totally demolished). Believe me, I'd be looking at my car not some dead deer. He's already dead.

The most you could have done was make sure that the poor thing was out of it's misery, but that would have probably required a gun of some sort. I don't think you're a heartless bastard, you didn't do it on purpose. Although I don't think you have that much empathy.

Well, you didn't intend to kill/hurt the Deer, so that'll be a big NO From the Council Of NO From the country of NO Based in the NO Region... On the planet N- Ok blah blah blah. You had no intention to kill the deer, and you easily saw it was dead, Who would want to play around with a Dead woodland creature?

You would've been a heartless bastard if you ate it on the spot. Or if you left it to suffer. If you're on a countryroad in the middle of the night, you're well within your right to see if you can get home.
