No. You probably should have called the police to tell them about a dead deer on the side of the road, but as long as you didn't hit it on purpose, you're not heartless.

You tried to stop but you weren't fast enough. You did the best thing someone could have done so no, you aren't heartless.

No you're not heartless. You should have run over and kicked the damn thing. Living in Maine I have the same issues, and I hate deer. Hence why I laughed so hard at this (good ol' Louis)

Nope not at all, I saw someone hit a wee little bambi size deer while I was driving home last night, we were almost right across from each other and he nailed the deer at probably 40-45 so I watched it ragdoll across the street in my rear view mirror. Poor stupid little deer, and poor unlucky driver.

It's your fault for not blasting "Move *****".

But in all cerealness, no. You breaked. I would've likely thought the deer was dead. You didn't have enough time to check on it. The fact that you feel bad about it proves the kindness in your heart. That last sentence was a shot to my masculinity, so I'm off to go lift weights and eat steak.

Look, here is how I see it: Go play ME 2 and get to Tali's Loyalty mission, if you don't give her a hug on that mission you are a heartless bastard.

Ok, that's pretty bad, but I can't call you heartless for one not so nice action.

And you did try to stop.

Heartless? Nah, don't beat yourself up over it. Just an unfortunate happening when cars and the animal kingdom collide, literally. I've never hit a deer, but I hit a dog once. I felt terrible for hitting it, but there's really nothing you can do about it; wrecking your vehicle and risking injury to yourself and especially to your passengers isn't worth it just to save an animal.

The idiotic rednecks around here will go out of their way to hit animals.

THAT'S heartless.

Those accidents happen every other day where I live, not a big deal really. That's why most people keep an axe in the back of their cars.

I was driving to the ice skating rink the other night with a friend, when out of the blue, as it happens alot in my neck of the woods, a deer wandered out into the road and stood still as it stared into the lights. I slammed my brakes on and still hit the deer at a full fledged 45mph(we were on a country road) and saw it ragdoll to the side of the road, Luckily I was driving an old '99 Yukon so we weren't hurt(we barely even felt the impact), but I noticed transmission fluid was spewing out of the front, so I stopped the car and got out to access the damage. Upon getting out, I saw the deer on the side of the road motionless and didn't think twice about it, and looked at the damage.

Am I a terrible about not giving two ####s about the deer?

I mean.. he kinda ruined my truck(I know it wasn't his fault), and I've never really thought twice about killing or at least destroying their nests if they were ruining my property(birds, groundhogs, bees, termites etc.)

EDIT: It was a 5 point buck! Huge friggin' deer.
EDIT2: I did call the police to report everything. Tow truck driver took the deer, cops wanted the deer as well.
Well, im in Connecticut, and honestly this shit happens so often i stopped caring to, as have most of the people i know. Its not like theres not enough of them, so no, your normal

Why would you care about a damn deer? I wouldn't even care if it was a human, in that case I would have left the place without saying a word...

Nope.

I'd barely give a shit if it was a human, never mind an animal.
I liked that joke. It made me laugh. I was like, "Haha, that's a funny joke.".

OT: No, not heartless at all. The fact that you're concerned about it pretty much proves that anyway.

Meh I don't think so people hit deer all the time where I live, caring about the deer wouldn't be prudent. Especially since alot of the time it's considered a blessing if you kill one without too much damage I know alot of guys who pay alot for your deer. I sold an antler-less buck for $200 one time.

No. You didn't purposefully mow it down and there was little you could do after you hit it. I think standing by the side of the road and crying hysterically for a dead animal that damaged your car would be a lot weirder.
