There, I did it for you. Now you don't have to.
Oh ho ho you don't escape a good quoting that easily. Simmer down, simmer down I won't post a pony pic I've met my quota for today.

I respect your opinion sir, I also like that you actually tried it before you judged it. I am using as the paradigm for the opposition although I'm inferring from your post that you are just indifferent rather than opposing.

The Escapist has always had a pony fandom present since year dot. There is even a t-shirt in the shop with a pony warning. As for me? I need nice things occasionally and the internet is mostly content to let me have this one. Also the creators talk to us and love us back via deviantart and /co/[./semi stalker-ish].

Well, as much as my throat wants to turn outside out from the word, I do watch the show and enjoy it. Greatest show ever? No. Some of the frillier girlier bits make me grit my teeth, and I always feel like I need to cuss non-stop for a few minutes after discussing it with my...little...bronies
FUCK THAT HURT!

Yeah, it's meant for 10-year-old girls... so effing what? It's a solid show, and a wonderful example of effort and creativity in an increasingly stagnant sea of media slop. There are some pretty nice messages in there, too. I'm especially impressed with the whole "Cutie Mark Crusaders" subplot: it's a puberty allegory with the theme that it's okay to not grow up too fast, the exact opposite of what so many other shows (and ads, and people) are saying. With girls starting puberty earlier and earlier, it's an important and timely message.

(I've got a young niece, who's probably the closest thing I'll ever have to a daughter. I'm permitted to worry about this stuff.)

To be honest, I've been kind of purposely avoiding the show because I think I'd become a full-fledged "brony" if I did. The few short clips I've seen on Youtube suggests such an outcome for me.

I suppose my answer then is that I'm not a "brony" yet, though I probably will be.
i've really one thing to say to that
-yes.-
surrender now, you'll only where your self out, sides :D we have cookies, and candys

So, yeah. No.

Well, I finally broke down and watched the first 2 episodes, and I have determined 3 things.

1- It does have a certain mesmerizing effect.

2- Pinky Pie is mentally damaged.

3- The lesbian pony got the most laughs out of me.

I hate to admit to this, really I do. But, yes, I like this show, quite a bit...

I can't help it, the animation is great, the characters simply make the show, and the number of references etc. keep me laughing more than I probably should. Never-mind that the voice acting is spot on.

Also, Applejack ftw.

No, and I think I'm past the age where a persistent appeal of glittering ponies in strong colours would suddenly manifest itself.

Not that I'd think ill of anyone who like it, I just prefer a darker slant [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/forums/read/326.275533-Puella-Magi-Madoka-Magica-Review] to my cutesy TV shows.

Yeah, I guess that option pretty much nails the sentiments on the head.

No.

I have not seen the show. I am a 20 year old man living at college sharing my dorm room with another 20 year old man. Do you have any idea what that would look like were I to start watching...that?

...wait a minute.

I see what you are trying to do. This is another attempt to get me to join this cult isn't it?

YOU WILL NOT TAKE ME, FOUL DEMON!!

[small]Heh, third time I've had to use this quote in a...ergh...My Little Pony... thread.

This is getting out of hand...[/small]

Well, given that there is a poll option for it, I really believe I can choose to vote how I want to. You like the show?

Fine. I don't.

I'll reason my choice in any way I wish because this is an open forum where I can say what I want to within the confines of forum posting guidelines.

Thank you very much.

I don't know who you think you are. I can say what I wish.

I'm 19, and I have two roomates, I just put on headphones when I watch online.

No. Hand over your manhood cards.

And I say that as someone who watched Powerpuff Girls and Totally Spiced and Sailor Moon when I was a kid.
Sorry I had to give up my mancard already for watching all those shows plus As Told By Ginger.

Also, I think it's worth pointing out that the show was developed a woman who also worked on the Powerpuff Girls and Foster's home for imaginary friends.

No, no I am not a Brony. Of all the many internet fads over the past couple years, I think this whole My Little Pony thing is one of the most impenetrable and perplexing. There's so many things out there which one could watch, so why this show? Maybe it's that I just don't like horses... maybe it's that I'm just too old for it, I don't know... but whatever it is, I'm ready or this particular fad to end.
I have two points to make in regard to this.

1. The reason I watch this show is because it's one of the two shows I've found currently airing on television that make me smile (the other is Castle, if that matters).

2. I get where you're coming from with getting fed up with the brony presence. On that note:

Dear fellow bronies, some of you may recognize me. I'm in your user group, have posted a few times and am generally filled with nothing but love for all bronydom. However, I think we need to start cutting down on the threads. I fear we may simply be antagonizing others at this point.

Yes, I feel the desire to spread the wonders of MLP: FiM as well, but I think just about everybody on Escapist has heard about it by now. We have a user group to discuss all things pony. I'm not asking you to censor yourself or to stop using adorable pony gifs, but the new frequent threads are overdoing it. Not all will be converted. Let's accept that and instead enjoy the fact so many have joined the user group.

Sincerely and with love,
SwimmingRock
