I am dubious about the next generation. If the PS4 is a brick of solid gaming goodness with no bullshit peripherals (at least at launch) like the PS3 is, and they haven't pulled any compulsory advertising or in-console DRM (or any of the other distasteful rumours going around) shit, I'll probably get one at launch to be honest. I know I get my value for money. But if any of the above is not true, I'll probably switch to PC. Pass Go, do not collect any other consoles. Don't let me down, Sony.

So long as I can transfer my gamerscore over. I didn't put 5 years into a number that means nothing for no reason and I don't want to start from scratch. I only play like two games on PC and consoles have been what I played for my gaming life so 720 at launch for me. I take the good and the bad of whatever comes my way.

I firmly stated that I would never get a PS3 when it came out. Then Rockstar didn't port Red Dead Redemption to PC, so I got a PS3. Something similar will probably happen again this time around.

I'm one of those that'll buy himself a Xbox and a PS4, but if the 'exclusives' list ends up like with the current model (in which there are hardly any)it'll go down to who has the best service in my view and controller (the PS3 ones hurt my hands after awhile), or I'll not bother and just get everything on my PC as its usually cheaper these days

Really I'm more concerned about the games; unless an absolutely stonking new IP appears that actually takes advantage of being a console game and not just a PC port, then colour me only mildly interested.

And I think I can go without Bayonetta 2 without too much trouble, because the first one's all I need :D

It'll be interesting to see what will happen with the actual competition to the big 3; experience tells that they're just going to be pushing the 'entertainment centre' thing further and further, and I don't want a console for that.

Ehhh, I guess I'm kind of excited.
I'll probably end up buying all three, because I always do, but I'm not buying any of them at launch.
A rule of thumb is to never buy a console at launch- it's always buggy and has no good games. Give it a year, maybe two years, then buy it. Then it's worth it.

Nah.

I'm only interested in a console for the games it lets me play and currently there is absolutely nothing on offer, either because WiiU games all look like poop on a stick or because Sony and Microsoft haven't got their stuff out the door yet.

I was likely to try to get and get the new xbox at launch, but then I read the articles about how Sony essentially only want rich people to play their consoles, and couldn't help wonder if microsoft wouldn't take a similar approach. I have to see what's up with them first.

Where's the "YES! Because it means that PC gaming might finally have some decent ports again!" option? I choose that one, because even though we have a ton of exclusives ourselves, the predominance of AAA game ports from console games leaves us PC gamers wishing that the console market would get an upgrade in hardware just to see what the big budget developers will do with it.

Not really. I'll probably pick up one of the new consoles a few years after release, when my backlog of games I want for this gen eventually runs out.

Not really. It's just graphics upgrades, and while I want to see photorealism as much as the next guy. personally I'd be perfectly happy if we had stayed at Gamecube or even PSP levels.

I'm moderately excited. I guess I'll buy the next Xbox when I get caught up on my backlog... And when I'm done playing games from this generation? Maybe I won't be getting one?

Yes, I am really quite excited, but I'll buy none of them. The reason I'm excited is that I'm a PC player and the old consoles have been holding games back for quite a while now since almost all major releases are (also) developed for the console market.
I'm really looking forward to what this new generation brings in terms of visuals (and physics and stuff too, obviously).

I'm only really considering getting a PS4... and's that only if doesn't come with built in motion controls and that rumour about it blocking used games is a load of crap.

I'm not getting a Wii U because of the gimmicky tablet crap.

I'm not getting an Xbox 720 or whatever it'll be called because XBL is getting more and more full of ads. Also because it's likely to come with a Kinect, and I'm not touching that rubbish with a ten foot pole.

So if the PS4 turns out to be a gimmicky joke like the other two (or block used games) then I'll just stick with my PC.

I might get an Ouya though.

Only insofar that it might actually push developers to create games that will challenge the hardware in my computer for once.

Where's the I'm not excited, but I'll be getting one anyways. Any excitement I have is immediately drowned out by fear companies are going to do something stupid to milk you for money. Like adding DRM to consoles or making you pay to go online. I just want a cheap box that plays games that look prettier than this gens, and I'm fairly sure I'm not going to get that.

I would be excited... if I had the money for it. But I don't. Seriously, I had to wait more than half of this generation to afford a 360. Now new consoles are on the horizon? Fuck that noise!

Could do with a simple "No". I might buy one, but I'm not over excited by them. The WiiU was pretty good when I played it though, tempted by it
