Yup, better safe than sorry! Not that I'm worrying about the flu itself, I'm worried about my sanity! My mother wouldn't stop nagging about the flu and about someone died of it etc. etc. so in order to stop me from banging my head on the wall I took it.

I heard the swine flu vaccine has mercury in it...
Well it do have mercury but the levels of it is extremely low, I think I read somewhere that you have to take over 100 shots or so to even notice it.

...but, unlike most influenza cases this H1N1- Swine Flu was having a greater toll on those with healthy immune systems, which isn't very common in diseases, since the old and the weak are usually the first to go.
It's similar to the Spanish flu in that respect (although a lot less potent for now), yes.
Yes I know, I studied about it enough. However, I am not sure if the 1918 Spanish Flu, which was an H1N1-A subtype virus, was a recombination of H1N1 and H3N2. I remember the WHO saying that the 2009 H1N1 was supposed to be a new strain because it had recombined genetic information from Bird flu and Influenza A, (possible with H2N2 as well) which resulted from the natural combination of the viruses in their latency period in the host (pig) who had contracted them.

Eitherway, I didn't get it. Yay!

It's not a pandemic. Swine flu is pretty much harmless.
It most certainly is a pandemic, it's spread across the planet. Likewise, HIV is pandemic. The common cold one could argue is pandemic. Pandemic has nothing to do with pathogenicity.

Yes it does. In the same way that meat has sulphur in it (gotta love methionine) in the same way that sugar has oxygen in it. It is not free-floating mercury. It is in the molecule. There is no more reason to fear the mercury in vaccines than there is to fear the "toxic chlorine, the same stuff as mustard gas" in table salt.

Yes, swine flu is pretty mild. Unless it mutates. Yes, if it mutates the vaccine will be less effective, but thats still more effective than NOT having the vaccine.

So get the vaccine, contribute to herd immunity and reduce the chance of a deadly outbreak.

Swine flu is just regular flu, but someone sneakily put 'swine' in front of it when we weren't looking, so of course the worlds media blew it way out of proportion.

My family made me get vaccinated. Not like I give a fuck. If it makes them happy, it's fine from me.

yeah i took it.

only to get my mom of my back.
I have the same situation but I haven't taken it yet. I'm still thinking about it. And with my luck, if I take it, I'll be the one to get some horrible side affects after taking the shot even though the chances for that are one to a million gazillion.

My country is trying to get every one vaccinated and I was told to come visit the hospital later since I was a little sick the last time. I probably won't go there again.

Yes.

Don't believe all of the conspiracy theory bullshit you read on the internet. ANYONE can write a blog on the subject.

I work for a medical school. DOCTORS are getting their families' vaccinated. That should tell you something.

This flu is different from any other strain we've experienced in the past little while because it is targeting the young and the healhty.

The medical community wouldn't put this vaccine out there if the benefits didn't outweight the risks.
The flu is targetting the young and the healthy ? The flu is suddenly sentient ? Well fuck me thats news when did this happen. Sentient selective viri that is something to be concerned about. Or did your hysterical agitation cause you to phrase your entire argument wrongly.

EDIT:- You 'work' for a medical school ? So janitorial or clerical staff? :D Simply being in a building doesnt qualify you as an expert. Also 8 years of medical training doesnt qualify you as a virologist. By analogy a mechanic is not qualified to repair formula 1 cars.

Additionally doctors also beleived fumigating the vagina stopped schizophrenia a mere 30 years ago. Doesnt mean their opinions are worth shit. Youll find most virologists have passed on the vaccine due to it demonstrating normal flu resistances. ie A new virus requires two innoculations. 99% of Swine flu vaccinees show resistance after 1 dose.

And how is your opinion any different, man? In the end that's all it is. An opinion. Just like mine.

I didn't say i WAS a doctor, but i work with Doctors and come from a family highly involved in the medical community who are all getting their families vaccinated. They are the experts, and they are seeing enough reason to believe that they are better off getting the vaccine then not.

Of course this is the internet, where EVERYONE can be a dime-store expert, so do what you will.

There's alot of bullshit conspiracy stuff and tales about cheerleaders who are a one in a million-case that the anti-vaccine crowd is twisting to their own devices that people are BUYING because they are too lazy to go out and do their own research.

The fact of the matter is that right now all statistics indicate that the target demographic for this particular strain of flu IS younger then average. Go and look it up, and try not to be a smarmy ass next time.

Do you really want to compare quack-science of 30 years ago to the flu vaccine of today? That's a bit of a stretch, isn't it? Yes Medicine is constantly evolving, but flu vaccinations are something that have quite a bit of accumulated history.

Yes, there's a good chance that people won't ever contract the virus. But why take the chance?

I'm a firm believer of covering all your bases and hedging your bets. There is just no justifiable argument to not getting this shot.

The assholes that should distribute the vaccines in my town want to do more testing before releasing it to the public. So no, I'm not vaccinated yet. Sure has hell going to when the vaccines released.
