I dunno, I like a lot of the people who've played the Joker.
I love Mark Hamill's take, and he is really good at it. (The guy may be pigeonholed into villain voices, but he does doe a great evil laugh), but I also really liked Heath Ledger as the Joker in "The Dark Knight", thought he brought some real edge to the character.
And I did like Kevin Michael Richardson as the Joker on "The Batman" (yes I liked that show, so shut up), and Jeff Bennet has done very well in the role on Batman: The Brave and the Bold... So yeah.

Heath Ledger, Mark Hamill, The Kevin Michael Richardson. Those guys all made the Joker their own, but I had to vote for Heath Ledger since he's dead and stuff.
Hammil had the voice down to a tee.But Heath had more going for him as he wasn't in a cartoon or game,and had things like body language and physical appearance to work on.By that logic,he was superior.Don't get me wrong, Hammil is incredible, but I had a better time watching Heath.

Hamill is the best interpretation of the joker from the comics. Heath Ledgers joker however was captivating, he made my skin crawl.
Ledger did a very interesting and cool take on the Joker, but it didn't really feel like the Joker to me. He was a psychopath, for sure, but he lacked the less serious side Hamill shows. I end up viewing Ledger(as well as everybody else from The Dark Knight) as somebody else's views on Batman, not as the actual characters.
So, good job Ledger, but Hamill is better.

Well Heath did a fantastic job but not quite the match I thought he would be. I mean Heath was fucking scary and funny. A great blend but I have to say that for me it would be a tie between Hammil and Heath.

In a sense,Ledger may only have been as good as he was because of Hammill's influence.Both Jokers are very,very different though so it's not that easy to compare in my opinion.Zenguai said:

He hasn't played the Joker in an "acting" role, but has been the voice of the Joker in the animated series and the game Batman: Arkham Asylum.
so many clearly didn't read the post. "comic book" villan interpretation has got to be hamill. If any of you seriously think that the joker from Dark Knight was anything like the comics, well, you clearly never read them or watched the animated series

For what it's worth I think Ledger's joker is my favourite, but best version of the comic book joker? Hamill all the way.

In many ways yes. You are correct. But in we are talking about Jokers rather then actors/voice actors. So it will be tough for them to be compared. BUTTTTTTT Ledger was good not just because of Hammill's Influence. The movie just seem to build on what Ledger was doing. The dark and very mysterious world they put That joker in as well as showing even less about the Joker was a better way to go about it then to explain 'every' little freaking detail about him. So for Ledger's Joker - Less is more (in terms of past events). Now Hammill is different in the terms of: he was the Joker's voice, in more ways then one. But then there was the movie: Batman Beyond: Return of the Joker as well as the new game: Arkham Asylum, which I have to say I loved playing and I love watching that movie. Both seem to give Hammill a great applause from new fans to old ones.MalevolentJim said:
