There's no reason it beats other consoles unless you like the games better.
Over here in England it's not even the cheapest blu ray player.
Actually, the PS3 is more then 2.5 times as powerful as the XBox360. As well as that, the 360 has a 30% failure rate, despite the fact that it has the widest range of games. But i see where you are coming from
Yeah the PS3 is greater in the performance department, it also makes developing games for the PS3 extremely expensive for developers so it's not a great deal for PS3 gamers at all.
Not really, it just takes some time to work it out initially. Once they understand it, they can work at it brilliantly. Don't believe me? Insomniac managed to make two games in 2008, one of which is a match for the 360's pinnacle of gaming, which took Epic 2 years to make.
Are you kidding me?
The development cost runs into millions and millions because developers are trying to make games for the PS3.
Smaller developers won't be able to foot the bill for developments like these.
Oh please. How much did Halo 3 cost to make again? $60 million. Shenmue famously cost $70 million. Do you actually know what the development costs for Ps3 games are?
For the record, currently the most expensive game for the Ps3 is GTA IV, with its $100 million budget. The highest production costs for an exclusive belong to Killzone 2, with $30 million - half of Halo 3, and what looks like twice the bang (looks like being the key phrase).
That is unless you believe internet rumours, which lists Rockstars promised Ps3 exclusive LA Noire as the most expensive game on the system, or ever, with a cost of supposedly $300 million. Considering how it actually looks, I call deep bullshit on that, unless Team Bondi are just making it bigger than Liberty City. Seems like The Escapist should send someone based in Sydney to interview them about it.....
