AUG's awesome, too. Really, all of them are exceptional guns. With that said, I see no reason to abandon the FAMAS yet - I'm too used to playing silenced now.
All the ARs are good but the SMGs are really underpowered. The only ones that are good are the 74u, MP5 and Spectre. The others all put you at a huge disadvantage.
It's okay. Really, I'm doing fairly well at the game as I am, I can afford to do poorly at some matches.

I still won't be trying the sniper rifles. I love sniping, but since CoD 4, there was no reason for me to ever use the rifle since I don't quickscope.

Guess it's the Battlefield series for me in that regard.

Well, I've played all of 'em since 2.

I enjoy them. Get my yearly fix of pain and anger with my yearly Veteran attempt.

Only succeed in both Modern Warfare games, though.

Treyarch CoDs are EVIL on Veteran.
I have yet to play Black Ops on veteran is it as bad as WaW?
Not even remotely, but after the CAKEWALK that was Modern Warfare 2 on Veteran, Black Ops is about on par with CoD 4.

Seriously, I forgot how much of a dick move infinite enemy spawns could be. FUCK YOU, VIETNAM MISSION!

It's odd. I don't like the CoD games but I always enjoy playing them. The main reason isn't that the games are bad, I find them to be well crafted shooters, it's that the community around it dosn't seem to be interested in much more than CoD. As a result I can't bring myself to play the game past the single player without another person to play the multiplayer or the zombies with. So I enjoy playing them just as long as I've got a freind to play the game with, same with Halo and other popular multiplayer shooters.

I find this thread very difficult to answer in a one word poll.... a couple of the games are alright, black ops is just MW2 with a shit singleplayer and some ridiculous gadgets. Overall multiplayer is fun. I got addicted to MW2 even though sometimes it made me want to tear my eyeballs out. The one thing I hate most about COD is the horrible fanboyism surrounding it.

hmmm strange, I got one reply saying it was much worse, and another (yours) saying it is easier...

Looks like I am just gonna have to play it myself to find out.
If you are right then it will be a piece of cake because every other CoD besides WaW was so easy to complete.

the singleplayer is fun but WAY to short
PS and fuck the multiplayer EVERYBOD has the BFG9000 while I,m still stuck with a NERF gun
It doesn't take long to unlock the FAMAS. You'll be fine once you do.
that would give me slightly better NERF gun still it wouldnt help much

Meh.
It is a good solid game series but they feel like every other military shooter for the most part. Blops had those extra modes which are pretty cool. The earlier games didn't impress me much though.

The FAMAS is considered by many to be the best gun in the game.

I can't think of any other gun that is as effective as the FAMAS over mid to long range.

I don't really understand the hype of the game. The stories are less then mediocre and the multiplayer isn't innovative enough from other shooters to make up for that. And before you fanboys say 'But Zombies!' That's not innovation. In it's time, Left 4 Dead was innovative, but we're not in that time any more!

Meh. FPS is my favourite genre by far, but 'realistic' military shooters bore me. I'll take escapism (Wolfenstein) or serious realism (ARMA II) but life's too short to waste time in the middle of the road.

Its an opinion, I am actually better at flying air vehicles in Arma 2 than in BF2. I'm assuming you've never seen richie speeds videos?
Sure, my statement about the vehicle physics is an opinion, but i've seen better AI and weapon ballistics in games for 2004. AI that know EXACTLY where you are, regardless of the fact you are in a Gillie suit, motionless in bushes, over 300 meters away? No, real people would never know that. And bullet physics. What a joke! A .308 (7.62 NATO) round does not drop out of the air after 200 meters when fired at a 30 degree angle to the ground! It drops at closer to 5 klicks. I suppose also that a main battle tank (M1A2 Abrams) cannot survive 4 or 5 HEAT RPG rounds, despite the fact that there have been cases in the Middle East where they have survived more than 15 direct hits? That's my issue with the so-call "military simulator" that Arma 2 claimed to be. From a purely fun standpoint, Arma 2 leaves a lot to be desired. Poor UI, bad AI, a hilariously bad voice "acting" system, it's just not a well thought out game. But, i'm done with my rant. If you like it, more power to you. I'll stick with less ambitious games until i know someone gets it right.
Well, it's still the most realistic Military sim out there. So yeah, its a simulation game and I have fun playing it.

The general opinion is very interesting on the Escapist.(w00t)
I put the same poll on IGN a week ago and the feedback was a landslide for "Yay". The only people to say "Nay" were boo'd off the interent by the village trolls. I love this site.

keep up the good work guys.

XD
While recently there has been quite a bit of flaming and trolling on this site, in general the discussion value is great. Glad you're enjoying it here.
Well, I've actually been on and off the Escapist for a year and some now. Good as always.

And the is exactly my point. It's the "best" there is. Which is really sad considering how it could be. Maybe Bohemia Entertainment can hire some engineers and military techs to come in and show them how the physics really behaves for Arma 3. And there will be an Arma 3. I hope they hire people who can teach them how stuff works. I'd play that. Actually, i'd play Arma 2 if the interface didn't assault me ever time i have more than two options. So i guess the moral of the story is that bad UI is the worst possible offense a game can make.
