I've played FPS games on consoles pretty much for the last 7-8 years. Before that I played Chex Quest and Wolfenstein on a PC, and that was it for PC FPS. But now I've decided to switch my Xbox Orange Box for a PC version. And I'll probably get more FPS games for PC now that I know the PC versions come with sandbox editors.
So, which do you prefer? I've heard that PC controls are better, but I don't know.

Pretty much up to personal preference.

You will get allot of comments from people who like one or the other, I'm sure.

Well i've found that the accuracy you can get with a mouse is better than anything you can do with a console...
But thats just me.

Yes, personal preference is all that matters. Also, I am certain there have been many threads about this exact same thing, you could have just checked those out if you wanted the opinions.

Pc controls are better in terms of accuracy and aiming. That's a fact.

However, what I really like about playing on PC is that you can change the command layout. I play all my FPS games with the same keyboard and mouse layout so it's easy to switch between games.

I prefer console controls for precision of movement and aiming, the way it fits comfortably in your hand and the fact that you don't need to keep moving the stick to continuously turn.
This thread has been done roughly 7 bajillion times now. Judging from your post count you should know better than to make a flame bait thread.

What did I tell you?

Two different responses already.

Also, Emphraim you are gonna find that allot of people find console aiming better. Better accuracy is not a "fact" it is YOUR preference.

Honestly, its opinion. I find that aiming is easier on a PC but overall feel is better on a console (especially the wii ie: RE4)

Depends on what your used to really. The arguments for pc seem convincing, but I can still do just as well with a controller. It appears to me as more of a superiority thing in the PC camp.

Personal preference. I suppose even if you do like FPS controls more on a controller. you can always get one and hook it up to your computer.

PC controls hve always felt really fake to me... and if they make aiming easier, than that just takes skill out of the game.

for me they feel pretty much the same pc has more hot keys and are more customisable but console controls fit in your hand better and most have analogue sticks which make aiming easier

This was also hoping to get some info on what it would be like to switch between the 2 control types, not just an overused topic.

It's always a matter of personal preference and style. To be honest I suggest you stick to console controls since it's difficult to try and get used to the other controls when you've been using one for as long as you have.

I'll point out something I have observed:

Aiming: Better with a mouse, since you can slightly budge in order to aim more preciously

Movement: Controller hands down, trying to move with keys is so unintuitive and clunky, especially when moving diagonally. Also you can't control how much you move with keyboard controls (with analog sticks you can easily apply as much pressure to the stick as needed to move either slowly or quickly).

it's all personal preference. I personally prefer the console controls for precision (you get a lot more stability with an analog stick) and for the fact that in the PC you use your right hand to aim and shoot, and your left hand to do everything else. With a controller you can use your right hand to control some other basic functions (jumipng, meleeing, ect) meaning it leaves your left hand to focus on movement and whatever your L1(Lb) and L2(Lt) do. The mouse can be a lot quicker if you're really good with it, but if you aren't a complete FPS junkie you'll probably miss your target most of the time.

On a controller like that, you're putting more work on the aiming side (the more important one) for extra movement abilities like jumping. On a computer, its more balanced out for the actions. movement, jump, crouch, sprint, and reload are all your left hand, where aim, fire, change weapons, melee and sights go on the mouse. It generally works better that way, not to mention, a mouse has a much better time changing from quickly turning to precision than does a controller, where you seem just a little limited on one or the other depending on your sensitivity.

I'm not saying you are wrong, I can see where you're coming from with that, it just all comes down to what you are used to (and how you keymap your controls, but thats also preference)

I find a PC is better for percision, however, I find that with a controller, the games tend to be a lot more balenced.

That argument really makes no sense because im pretty sure when it comes to multiplayer whoever has more skill with mouse and keyboard will be the better player.

Dont know why everyone things that. As a once "mighty PC gamer" I think the controls for consoles are superrior.

However, I think PC's win when it comes to game innovation.

Personally, I've always found controllers difficult when it comes to FPS games. Keyboard and Mouse have always felt more natural for me.

I like the fact that, with a mouse you can (in some instances) alter the X and Y sensitivity, and the mouse reaction to get the controls 'just right'.

I don't see how it takes the skill out of the game. It's like saying there's no skill in playing a game when you've got the monitor switched on (True hardcore gamers don't need a screen!)
The KB+M doesn't make aiming any easier, it just allows for a more custom experience - like a soldier choosing what scope to have on their rifle, and weather or not they want a foregrip.
