Pc players will say yes, while consoles players will say no. I personally never could get the hang of mouse and keyboard controls but I never really tried them either maybe i'd get better if I practiced.

This debate's almost as old as arrow keys vs WASD.

It totally depends on personal preference and/or the type of game. For example, RTS feels far too clumsy with a pad, but I couldn't play a football or racing game on a keyboard. As for FPS, I'm comfortable with either having grown up playing both. But just to confuse the matter further, me and my mate used to use both for Battlefield 1942 and Vietnam, WASD and mouse while on foot, gamepad for the vehicles. (Although he did use right click to walk forward... freak.)

For me, the final nail in the PC gaming coffin was that consoles caught up vis a vis graphics and online play, there's no fiddling about with settings to get a balance between looks and performance, plus I don't have to upgrade a graphics card every 6 months anymore.

PC controls hve always felt really fake to me... and if they make aiming easier, than that just takes skill out of the game.
Whereas auto aim really takes a lot of skill ay? :)

Auto-aim is not your friend. It will drag your damn rifle away from your target whenever anyone walks in front of you.

So your preference is controller based fps where 90% of the time auto aim is implemented as opposed to mouse aiming that's more precise and purely relies on skill... interesting.

OK maybe I'm exaggerating a bit with the 90% auto aim thing but seriously, mouse aiming feels fake? and takes the skill out of the game? Firstly since when is a mouse or analog stick realistic in regards to firing a weapon? If the Wii remote was more precise then that would be the closest thing to realistic aiming. Secondly, how does mouse aiming take the skill out of the game?

No offence dude but that logic seems flawed is all. Just saying. =S

Alright, alright, first of all I never said that a mouse takes THE skill out of a game. I probably should have said, "takes SOME skill out of the game" If aiming with a mouse is easier, then aiming with a controler is harder. If aiming with a controler is harder, then it will require MORE skill to hit a target. Follows?

And yes, you are right, the Wii is the most realistic aiming. But pulling a triger feels more realistic than clicking a button.

If I've adequetly justified myself, can we bring this argument to a close. We're the last two guys on the thread.

i cant control those little sticks enough to ever be able to play an online fps on a console, and whit the top of the line razer mouse i always feel 100% in control, I'm just used to the difference between a 0.2 mm and 0.1 mm movement will be the difference between life and death, but whit a console it usually takes me about a second to even get the gun in the general direction of my opponent.

but i am a PC gamer and have always been, i do own a ps2 but i only use it to play old fighting games and driving games (consoles win on those two, they are stalemates on alot of different genres, but in my eyes the fps is a PC exclusive, so is the the rts and rpgs, but again thats all that control i like having)

I voted same, but only because it really depends on the game. I can't imagine playing anything with a lot of fast moving and precision shots without a mouse, and I loathe trying to platform without a trusty controller. I suppose that also boils it down to a personal preference.

Personal preference and its different.

On a console everyone has the same controller so the playing field is different

On PC some people have high performance mice and mousepads so they have a heap more accuracy than someone using a standard MS mouse.

TBH it doesnt bother me just as long as its similar, I wont play TF2 or something with a gamepad on the PC.

Keyboard + mouse works best for some genres like FPS and RTS while a controller works better for fighting games and platformers... So they're both good, just good at different things.

Since I've never had the pleasure to own a console in my whole life and that I even played FIFA with keyboard you might guess what I prefer.

Two other reasons is that i feel crippled with the controls and I also got to test my beloved CoD 4 on a console. I discovered that the control didn't have enough buttons for leaning manoeuvres. (NOOOOOOOO!!!)

I personaly am better with a controler for actions and movement, but I'm trying to switch to being profecient with a keyboard. Also my computers crap so it bogs down constantly. That doesn't help.

Just gonna Paste myself again:

That's one of the most flawed arguments ever...

Yes, it also takes more skill to do a marathon in a wheelchair, I still have to see a runner do that out of his own free will though.

So you do realize that you can aim better with a mouse yet consciously chose the inferior controller instead of using the best one possible for a certain task and actually developing your "skill" inside the game instead of trying to battle with the controller?
By your definition the best controller to take for something seems to be the most awkward anyone could think of and the best game the one with the worst menus and controls, leaving aside the teachings of ergonomics and Human Computer Interaction as a whole cause it takes "more skill".
I'll have to think about that.
Well are all the other runners doing the race in the wheelchair? Hmm?
