the ironic thing is, 2 of my favorite genres of music are metal and classical. i guess they both are just very stimulating music

oh, and I also like alternative rock (but the way I see it, thats practically like a milder form of metal, lol)

I often refer to myself as a terrible metalhead. I also listen to classic rock, hard rock, techno (house and trance), electronica, dance, a smattering of country, bit of jazz, touch of blues, as well as videogame soundtracks and remixes. I also enjoy classical music, and really old music, like from the 40's and 50's. The only types of music I don't really like are rap, hiphop, and all variations on that side of the musical spectrum.

I like these genres because I do. They sound good, I enjoy them, I'll listen to them. I'm not looking to join a high school clique anymore, so I don't give two shits if anyone teases me for rocking out when Barbie Girl randomly shows up on my playlist (my boyfriend gives me funny looks when that happens, but he listens to girlier songs than I do anyway).

If I hear about a new band (or an old one I hadn't heard of) I don't judge them based on "they're metal/pop/hiphop/country/whatever". I listen to a few of their SONGS. in other words, I find sticking to one genre limiting and stupid. When it comes down to it, I believe what Ray Charles believed: There's good music, and there's bad music. Genre doesn't matter. How good an individual song is does.
FYI, this statement also goes for me in terms of games, films, books and tv shows.

Yes I'm a Metal fan but I have a very eclectic taste in everything. As for music I like Pop, Rock, Metal, Goth, Classical, Ska & a lot more but you get the idea. I like having a variety of music depending on my mood.

I love metal, but the only music I don't listen to is Rap, Hip Hop, techno/electronica, and country.

It more happens to do with my mood. Most days are metal days, but sometimes I just like some jazz, or classical. Some days it's oldies, some days it's mississippi blues. Almost every day is a metal day, though.

I consider myself a huge metal fan. And for the hell of it, a list of genres I like/listen to, metal included (lots of bands I listen to are combinations of these genres):

Doom metal
Death metal
Sludge metal
Drone metal
Atmospheric metal
Progressive/experimental/avant-garde metal
Post metal
Alt metal
Techno-metal/aggrotech/whatever the hell Psyclon Nine is
Ambient
Noise rock/music
Post rock
Classic rock
Country
Folk
Jazz
Space rock
Stoner rock
Pop
Techno
Electronica
Alt rock
Indie rock
Shoegazer
Some rap/hip hop

Definitely stuff I'm forgetting, bands that don't fit nicely into any particular genre, and the like. But I consider myself a huge metal fan at the same time that Johnny Cash and Sigur Ros are two of my all-time favorite artists, right alongside Mouth of the Architect and Boris.

As much as I like metal, my first love is classical. Love the stuff, in my opinion, it's more expressive and more emotional than metal, and it doesn't even need words to do that either. I also like jazz and blue, BB King is the shit, thankfully I had the chance to see him live, he was amazing.

Yes. Classical (piano and string), some Techno (as long as its evolving, not straight club music of boom, boom, etc), and some Rap (real rap, like Eminem, not Black Eyed Peas).

I imagine the vast majority do. I like rock, classic rock, some gothic rock, drum and bass, some techno, some dance, some electronic music, a bit of indie, a good bit of alternative.

Most people don't just like one genre and hate everything that isn't it.

Check out Heaven Shall Burn. They have some amazing classical stuff with their songs. They really set the mood/tempo/feel for the song.

Am I a metal head? Yes.
Death Metal, Melodic Death Metal, Symphonic Metal, Black Metal, Doom Metal...etc etc etc the lot...
Do I like other stuff? Yup.
Jazz, Blues, Johnny Cash, Some rock..some progressive rock/metal...oh, and Hardcore/Deathcore.
Thing is...I've only ever found one rap artist I've liked. That was Diabolic, who to my knowledge only has 1 album.

though like all good metal heads...I FUCKING HATE HIP-HOP AND POP! MAIM! KILL! BURN!

I see a metalhead and s/he loves their metal and hates every other Genre of music.

For the record I love my metal but I also love my Jazz and Classical as well as GOOD techno (few and far between) and rock n roll.
I'm basically the exact same, except replace jazz with indie music.

I will probably always be a metalhead, but my musical tastes include electronic music of all sorts (even pop), classic rock, indie rock, some rap, pretty much anything with the word "alternative" before it, and generally most everything else is ok to me too. I'm not really a "pure" metalhead, most of my interests being in metalcore and progressive metal, but I do enjoy me some metal.

It normally irritates the hell out of me when bands have classical bits in their songs, but that was tastefully done. I've never heard of them before, but I liked it.

I generally stick to metal, though I do listen to some stuff that's more in hard rock territory, and will occasionally go back and listen to some older pop-rockier stuff like the Beach Boys and The Beatles. I wouldn't say I'm overly narrow in my approach to music though. Metal is a pretty diverse genre and I enjoy a wide array of different bands and sub-genres, some of which are arguably more distinct from one another than, say, pop and hip-hop are. Also one can probably find a metal band that's been strongly influenced by just about any style or genre you'd care to name, and in most cases I'm simply more inclined to investigate the metal band.

You're very welcome then. They're out of Germany, and have only been to the US once considering their growing fan base.

I agree, it can def get fucked up badly.
