Yes, it's meant to be shocking, filthy and disgusting. I'm not a big fan of the genre myself, but it certainly does succeed in making that disturbing, vulgar sound many bands aspire to; it's the epitome of pure, blind aggression and carnage. It's an expression just like any other, and I respect them for being capable of captivating the essence of these emotions so perfectly.Hairetos said:I throw grindcore where I throw shocker sites. I mean just look at band names. Vulgarity for the sake of vulgarity isn't funny, edgy, or avant-garde (which is a whole 'nother genre in and of itself).Noatun said:Deathcore is actually pretty tame as far as extreme metal goes. Ever heard of brutal death metal, or grindcore? It makes deathcore sound like muzak.Hairetos said:I'm a pretty die-hard metal fan, but I've also always had a penchant for the classics. I've recently come to terms with some nice romantic era stuff after being an almost exclusively baroque man.
On another note, I don't hate very much music at all, more like isolated bands. Except rap. I don't hate country, or Justin Bieber, or Britney Spears, or any of them, but rap is my limit. Also can't really stand the really extreme metals, including Deathcore, black metal, techdeath, etc. Metalcore and melodeath is about as heavy as it gets for me. As far as isolated bands are concerned, see Brokencyde or Attack! Attack!.
I mean, come on now:
Cephalic Carnage
Cattle Decapitation
Dyeing Fetus
Pig Destroyer
Anal C*nt
Band names don't always reflect their music (wtf is a Sylosis, great band though) but in these cases it does.
You forgot to mention that we are close-minded, beer-drinking, "Pantera-fearing" citizens devoid of social skills and friendly manners.captainfluoxetine said:No they don't. nor do they like showers, anything with less than total mechanical perfect ergardless of its grating and unenjoyable sound, getting haircuts and personal hygene.
As a fan of punk im opposed to anything with more than 4 power chords.
I too have seen it. I don't like the whole metal scene in general, but love the music (well some of it anyway).ivansnick said:I have noticed it alot.
I see a metalhead and s/he loves their metal and hates every other Genre of music.
Me neither, depends how far they go though. Rise Against and Thousand Foot Krutch sing and scream at times, the way they scream and how much is important, but I agree with you for the most part.Light 086 said:I like many genres. Rock, metal, pop, rap... etc. I'm not a fan of screamo though, it just irritates me.
Exactly so. Metal fans don't go around proclaiming their love for every genre, they just get on and listen to it, like most people. It's the fringe lunatics who proclaim their "true metalness" at every oppurtunity, since it's some kind of virtue if you don't listen to other genres. Mental.viranimus said:The notion that metal heads only like metal is sort of stereotypical nonsense, and if you do see it its more of the exception rather than the rule, though it is understandable because in many cases the worst case example is the most visible.
Exactly. What are you trying to, understand us? That's for wimps, we'll beat you up for that.captainfluoxetine said:Yes! those too!Noatun said:You forgot to mention that we are close-minded, beer-drinking, "Pantera-fearing" citizens devoid of social skills and friendly manners.captainfluoxetine said:No they don't. nor do they like showers, anything with less than total mechanical perfect ergardless of its grating and unenjoyable sound, getting haircuts and personal hygene.

Ah where would we be without stereotypes?
Ill tell you where, judging each person as an individual whilst also developing a far greater appreciation for the tapestry which is humanity. *shudders*
Far too much effort. Specially for unwashed mettlers.
