Yeah, tho I prefer black metal now more than heavy metal.
I will listen to virtually all types of music to a degree.

First of, there's a lot of different metal genres. A LOT. Some I love, others I dislike. There's a wide range there, so much in fact, I'm not really shure we should call all of it metal. Yes by todays standards they fall in that category (and an infinite number of sub-cathegories), but shouldn't the industry be able to stand up and say "It's not the same type of music, let's call it something else."?

Second, I also like a bit of classical, a bit of the indie guitar undefinable stuff, some techno-esqe stuff and rock-themed pop. And every now and then I can even like the occational rap-"song". It's a matter of taste, of course, but I often find myself drawn towards things that "everyone else likes", just because it's good or generally catchy music.

It all boils down to taste I guess...

I like any and all kinds of metal. The other half of my library is different artists that I've stumbled upon and liked; probably for same mysterious reasons that occasional metal bands induce my hate (Dark Tranquility is OK, but In Flames is blergh). It's almost never mainstream pop, though: yes, it's catchy, but a bit too simple. Some complication would work wonders on it (ex: http://soundcloud.com/clocks/teenagedjent ).

I listen to a little bit of everything, jazz, classical, Rock of all kinds, older pop, a rare bit of techno, country even a little rap(though not much).
I think folks that limit themselves to one genre are either closed minded fools or are trying to subscribe to a lifestyle, a lifestyule that they probebly know nothing about.

yes, to answer your question. i love metal zakk wylde should be a hero for all, but i dont only love that genre, i love all kinds of music form mc chris to frank sanatra. an important thing to realize is that the younger(teens mostly) fan of metal like to be anger about things ergo hating other genres aloud, while secretly loving them is a way to deal with conformist ideal that go along with that age bracket.an important friend let me know "i dont like a specfiic kind of music, i like what i like"

I used to listen to a shit load of Metal, near the only stuff i did listen to.
Then i slapped my shit together, realised a lot of it was cheesy as FUCK and zoned in on a lot of the other genres i listened to.
I follow the philosophy that if it's got a guitar i'll listen to it seeing as my music mainly comprises of [hard]rock now but there's some indie rock, 3rd wave ska, reggae, electronic, acoustic, prog, stoner rock/metal, punk, hardcore, pop, pop punk, instrumental, rap, hip hop and still some remenants of metal in there aswell.
I figure you just got to have it in your library because you're always feeling for something different at different times.
From experience obsessive metal fans just need to get their heads out of their arses and appreciate some other fine works of art.

Discounting some hard rock, nearly everything I like falls into one genre of metal or another. The exception are the Cruxshadows, a darkwave band whom I think are quite good. That's really it, though.

Mostly listen to metal of a few variates, but there's loads of other stuff I like, punk, rock (although that can be similar), more recently some ska, some rap, even some country. In the right mood I'll even listen to pop, god forbid, heh.

Yeah, some blues, some instrumental rock and some classical are all genres I can get into. Metal is so diverse that if you're really into it all you end up getting into all sorts of other stuff as well because of the elements that have been incorporated into the metal.

I'm a fan of metal up until about the Black Dahlia Murder. I can't stand for bands like Cannibal Corpse. I like to keep it melodic.

I also like basically anything that I think is good, such as Daft Punk, Avenged sevenfold, Bloc Party, Linkin Park, the Halo Soundtracks, Death From Above 1979, Smashing Pumpkins, Pendulum, System of a Down and other bands, as well as supporting DJ's.

So yeah, I listen to other stuff.

I love anything from brutal death to symphonic metal, and I pretty much listen to every genre of music except rap and club music.

Well, I don't like heavy metal, but I like a bunch of other metal sub-genres. But whilst I like those, I like an unexpected range of music as well, such as Trance and J-Pop.

Yes. I am a fan of metal, which would mean I am a metal fan, but I am not a metal head. Whay you really are asking, do Metalheads like other genres.
Personally, limiting yourself to one genre is dumb, but thats your loss, not mine.
Ditto, I love me some metal but I'm also a massive fan of punk and hardcore and enjoy a lot of classic rock 'n' roll. I'd say my music taste is limited to rock and everything which grew from it (punk, metal etc) because I hate club music but that doesn't mean I hate all pop songs, just all club songs. Actually I also enjoy jazz and 1940s 'big band' music as well
One thing I do hate with a passion is dub step. Drum and bass has its place but dub step? No, that I'll never understand

As I do enjoy a bit of heavy and power metal I fell obliged to speak here..

Unfortunately that is a strong generalization about metal heads that we must shake off..

But OT: I also like rock, roll, blues, soul, classical, alternative, hell even pop and rapping when its good..

I am a metal fan and I basically only have metal and rock on my ipod aside from that I do like and listen to other genre. Things I don't like are recent pop, rap, techno and hip hop songs and RnB. I much rather older songs in those genres aside from that it doesn't bother me.

I like metal and a great deal else besides.
I can see what you're getting at, though; a lot of metalheads seem to be aggravatingly bigoted. 'I want to rip Bieber apart from head to groin and dual-wield his remains to beat Miley Cyrus to death while listing to Meshuggah!!!1'-type comments are just pathetic.

In fact, after 'gangsta' rappers, metal fans are the most annoying musical demographic. Especially when they say things like metal is the logical conclusion of classical music. No it's not. It's a group of bearded men in their 30s with ego problems and a lack of shampoo..
Personal opinion, before somebody rips me apart from head to groin.

Yeah, of course. Some jazz, classical, now and again I find some rap that isn't just demeaning, there's lots.
