On rare occasion; most alcohol's taste reminds me of unpleasant things. Like all that stupid bloodwork I had done back when I was a kid (I. FUCKING. HATE. NEEDLES).

I've never been drunk, and I hope to be able to die on such a claim.

I do drink, though I rarely go and get pissed. Much happier just to have a quiet few in a pub with others.

A lot of times, you get two extremes:

Those who DO NOT DRINK EVER and look down on everyone who does and sees it as pathetic.
And.
Those who drink lodez evry nite cuz theyr rly kwl n get fookin WASTED shiiiiiit lololol

Both anger me.
Of course, if you don't drink, then that's perfectly fine - just don't get all pretentious about it. If you do drink, that is also fine - just don't get all pretentious about it.

Me, I drink. Not loads - I don't see the point in drinking with the intention to get drunk. When I go to a bar, or party, I do drink, to socialise. But I try not to drink excessively because 1) costs a lot, 2) morning after you feel foul, and 3) I don't like thinking about what it does to my dear little body.

I'm three years under-age here(16 and the age is 19) but yeah I do once in awhile. I first did when I was about 13, then on new years eve a couple years ago I got way too drunk and ended up getting picked up by my parents. Needless to say they weren't happy. After that I knew my limits, now I just drink casually with friends maybe once a month at most. I think I will more often when I move out though, mainly cause I'll be moving to Quebec where the age is 18 which will make me legal by the time I move out.

Drink of preference: Whisky or Vodka.

Been drinking since 15, and yeah if you can maintain the 'buzz' but not drink too much it's great.

Also, to people saying they don't like the taste, maybe they should try different types of alcohol/brands? Just saying, because I hate beer (especially 4X) but spirits such as vodka etc. are awesome. Don't judge something based on one experience.
Trust me, I've tried it all. Multiple times. Gotten drunk, almost. But I still hate it.
OK, if you've at least tried a wide variety of it you can have your own opinion on it's taste. Everyone's different, I know plenty of my friends who will only drink one type of alcohol and nothing else because that is all they will drink.

If I'm in a social situation with a lot of people I don't know very well I tend to clam up. Apparently lots of people take that as antisocial passive aggressive behavior.

If I have a few drinks beforehand I'm a Lot more fun to be around. People see me as a friendly and funny guy.

I use alcohol as a social crutch, and I'm not embarrassed to admit that.

Edit - For what it matters I only get drunk around friends I know well and prefer hard, unsweetened liquor.

Yes. Definitely. It makes a night better, as long as you drink enough to distort the bad bits and give you some liquid courage. Not enough to have you wake up in your best mates shrubbery with sick down your favourite cardi.
If it's any consolation I once woke up naked and wet on my friend's floor. Only to be told that in the middle of the night I woke up stripped off and started pissing on my friend's bed while he was in it with his girlfriend. Then I flashed his ma before falling over, giggling and going to sleep. Luckily, as a stand up comic that's a fantastic bit of material for me. Unfortunately, that's actually part of my life now. And what hurts the most, oddly, is that no one holds a grudge. They're response was almost immediately "It's only Liam." What have I done in my life to lower expectations so?
I woke up to find my friend naked on my couch after one light session. Bollock naked, laying there, snoozing. So like any good friend, I took a picture to use against him if he was ever a nob. Genius.

There's nothing evil about alcohol. And wine can be one of the tastiest things around. A good meal is infinitely enhanced when enjoyed with a good glass of wine.
I also have a taste for whisky, whether Scottish single malt or a decent bourbon, and properly served vodka (ie. from the freezer) can also be delicious.

Becoming a drunken mess in no way goes hand-in-hand with drinking alcohol. It's always up to you.

I drink like a fucking viking man, i drink in cone-like glass with no flat surface on the botton, so the only way you have to get rid of the glass is placing it upside down, empty.
And, yes i am underage, and yes a have been drunk a couple of times.

But since i have a girlfriend now i really shouldn´t keep on drinking. But I don´t know how i´ll manage to stay sober, since my summer vacations are starting.

Yes I drink. I like to go out every couple of weeks with my friends and sample the local spirits. I'm a Guinness man if I'm ordering my "usual" though, I know just how much Guinness I need to get as drunk as I want.

I've been paralytic a couple of times, to the point of throwing up. That isn't pleasant, nor is the abysmal hangover for the the preceding 24 hours, but it was an experience. Not one I try to frequently emulate however. A few pints loosens up the tongue, enhances the atmosphere and reasonably dilutes my inhibitions. Also, if you like to pit, it definitely helps as long as you know tolerance.

You should drink a little alcohol in your life, it's good for you. A glass of red wine at dinner is never a bad thing. Not having ever sampled a fine Whiskey would be a tragic thing.

To the people who "don't understand the point of it": it makes people like you seem more interesting.

no joke. it's not for our benefit, it's for everyone else's. to us you're funnier, more attractive, better company and less boring. if we didn't drink you'd come out of it much worse.

on a serious note, it seems a more american (or at least, less european) trait to see drink as important. i think that's the reason for what someone referred to as the tribalism or the binary viewpoint. it seems uncommon for the americans to just go out and have a few or sit at home with a bottle of wine. it's all or nothing.

the european view on things is more relaxed, where drinking is just a part of life and if you choose not to enjoy it, fine, but you won't demonise it.

I enjoy my drink, but I don't need it. I got so shitfaced that I fell flat on my face and broke two teeth. Did I piss and whinge about alcohol being the cause of all the evils in the world? No. I realised that I had done it wrong, it was my fault and I just went about the process differently.
We do it because it's fun. And if you drink enough your hangover won't kick in until the afternoon by which point you can load up on painkillers and lucozade sport. In fact, hangover days are some of my favourites because everyone's still a little tipsy and it's always fun reliving the night before.

If you're not enjoying yourself when you drink, in low or high quantities, it's because you're not doing it right. Don't start blaming the alcohol or anyone else, take some responsibility and learn how to do it properly.
Or don't do it at all but don't start having a go at others because you can't get it right like this guy:

Fuck no, shit tastes like crap, and the following hangover sucks something fierce.

I've never understood how people could like that stuff, really causes me to lose a lot of respect for people when I find out that they do drink it.

I'm a 24 year old male. I only drink on rare occasions. Maybe once a month, and it's usually just a couple of beers while watching basketball or football

I hate those who judge something without trying it.

You have to get drunk atleast once before you condemn it. I'd suggest 2-3 times because it's rearely the same.
Honestly, F**k off.
I don't need to drink cyanide in order to know that's fatal now do I?
I can't stand "Oh, but you must try anything ONCE before you can turn it down!", No, we don't. Why? Because that's how Addicts are born.
"Here, take it. Common, try it! Do it for the group!"

I spit on you.
Comparing ethanol to cyanide is like comparing a person who doesn't like glasses to Hitler. The comparison is ridiculous. Commercial beverages that contain alcohol are very well regulated and to kill ones self takes either years of decadent abuse or extreme excess in a short time frame. Similarly addiction.

You however are abhorrently rude.

I only have the wine your given at church. Other than that no. I could how ever get legally drunk inside my house even though I'm underaged (Thank you Illinois)! But I have no reason to get drunk nor have a glass of wine or bottle of bear. Personally I don't understand how people can drink this stuff with a meal or just alone. The same goes for Coffee. I'll just stick with my addiction to Coca-cola.

What... like, grain alcohol? Straight? That's crazy, man.

Seriously though, yes... but I have very specific tastes in beer, wine, and liquor. Anheuser-Busch, knockoff French wine made in California, cheap Vodka or anything else like those things need not apply.

Very rarely. Not because I'm against it or anything, just never really have that big of a desire.

I drink more with family than with friends, and even then it's like... one glass of wine or something. I've never gotten drunk before.
