This article [http://skeptoid.com/episodes/4088] excellently shows why the movie Super Size Me is full of bullshit and why the idea that eating at McDonalds or any other fast food restaurant will make you less fat than when you take an average regular meal is simply wrong.

Anyway, I eat at McDonalds occasionaly and really like most of their hamburgers (as long as they don't contain bacon). It's also nice to know that, wherever you are in the world, at one place everything tastes the same as at home.

I go to McDonalds when I want McDonalds, not hamburgers. If I want actual hamburgers, I go somewhere else.

yes. Because they are cheap, convenient, decent tasting, and generally clean.
And their quality has gone up in the last few years actually.
Just letting you know, McDonald's is an environmentally devastating company. They clear-cut rainforests to grow grass to raise their beef, that's why their burgers are so cheap. McDonald's hurts wildlife so that their beef is accessible to all. That's why their beef is so cheap and that's why it tastes the way it tastes: it is frozen and shipped to the US from poorer South American countries. Just trying to let everyone know so that they're informed.
Wheres your source?

According to them they get beef from US, Austraila and New Zealand. Last i cnecked none of them are in South America.
I see. I just read up on it and apparently they don't do this anymore, but did in the past. However, most of their beef is frozen and imported from Austrailia and New Zealand, frozen and shipped here. This is completely disgusting to me. There is also no reason to do this other than the fact that it is cheap. If you want to eat cheap, frozen beef go ahead, but I'm certainly not going to eat that.

To each their own. But almost every restuarant uses some form of frozen food (not counting ice cream), from Gordon Ramsey to McDonalds and most every chain restaurant

A few years ago a lot of McDonalds food issues were exposed through the documentary Supersize Me. After that McDonalds took a huge hit in business, but since then they've slowly recovered. So. do you still eat it?

As for me, I stopped eating it maybe 8 eight years ago but if I'm in a foreign country I will occasionally still eat fries or an apple pie because I know what I'm getting. (I swore off their 'meat' for life).
Supersize me is a load of tosh, I ate at McD when they had great deals on, then when the deals ended I stopped going.

Their meat is actually fine, it is clean and unadulterated but THAT is the problem. To make even a gourmet burger taste good you have to add shit to it.

Ultimately mcdonalds need to change as I defected to Burger king as although much more expensive because BK offered something NEW: the Steak House Angus. That is a ridiculously tasty burger, I had to stop goign there because I'd eat it so quickly I'd feel over-stuffed then get the meat-sweats.

BK's Steakhouse Angus really is a treat.

But in the medium price range, the Melt n' middle is great and NEW. I liked (past tense) the big-mac but I'm completely bored of it now and it never tasted that good in the first place, just made for a very cheap meal.

Considering all that Supersize Me showed was that if you eat McDonalds all day, every day and have no exercise at all then you'll damage your health. Whoopdee-friggen-do. I think they said that he ate more McDonalds in a month than most families eat in a year or something like that.

If he truly wanted to test it he should have just eaten a certain meal there every other day or so and exercised according to the scale of the test. Meaning, that if he ate the amount of McDonalds that a family of three eats in month by himself, he should have exercised the same amount that a family of three would in a month also, instead of just for one person.

Also, if it wasn't clear, yes I do eat at McDonalds. Also I eat at Taco Bell, Subway and Wendy's, but I never eat at Burger King. If I wanted to spend over $5 for one sandwich I would rather go across the street to Subway and buy a foot long and a pop for the price of one of Burger Kings burgers. Shit, including the price of fries and a drink and I could go to Red Lobster or an all you can eat buffet and still have more money left!

No. I stopped eating fast food nearly a decade ago and I haven't once looked back. I also consider chain restaurants such as applebees, chilis, etc. to be fast food as well. If most of the ingredients were frozen before I got there then I don't want it; fresh is always better. I ate an abnormal, dare I say gross, amount of mcdonalds and taco bell as a teenager, but as I grew older my dietary and political ideals kept me from eating fast food. Well-written books like Eric Schlosser's Fast Food Nation helped finalize that decision. . . . I'm also a bit of a snob, though.

As for Super Size Me, his "experiment" was terrible. No control to compare it against. Oh, he ate 5000 calories and didn't exercise and it made him fat? Shock! Of course it did, you could eat that many calories worth of anything and it will make you fat if you're not burning it. Just learn to have some self control, get a regular sandwich instead of a super ultra burger.

I'll bet he could have eaten the same stuff on from that movie and with exercise, gotten in better shape. Exercise is key. Actually, didn't some guy do that, making a counter-movie? Whatever, I eat fastfood a couple times a week in yet I'm 135 pounds and 5'8" or 5'9"

Every diet to ever work: eat less and/or do more.
some professor somewhere..forget where, all he had was like doritos and twinkies daily for food and he lost weight, something like 20 pounds if i remember right, it was because he had CONTROL and didn't be a fucking lazy pile.

I HATE their food. To me it tastes like card-board deep friend in caster oil that is three weeks old and tainted with petrol. I eat other fast food, KFC is delicious here...

Mickey D's is my travel food, so I usually grab a burger and fries every few weeks when I'm driving somewhere. Otherwise, I will stop there once in a great while for breakfast, because I like their breakfast foods.

I'll eat their ice cream. Not really anything else.
The only fast food I eat semi-regularly is waffle fries from Chik-fi-le (sp?), and that's just because on Fridays me and my friends will go in, order two boxes of fries between about five of us, and get endless refills.

When I'm going somewhere it's not uncommon for me to get a breakfast at McDonalds; I find their breakfasts pretty good. Their normal food, however, is not so high on my list of foods I enjoy. I'm not sure why. In my opinion, it just isn't up to par with some places around here such as Whataburger.

A dollar for a chicken sandwich? I'd get really fat if I moved to America...

OP: The only time I ever crave fast food is after a night out so the only time you'll catch me in a McDonalds is at three in the morning. When I'm drinking I don't eat, I feed.

It's not that I have a problem with it sober I just never get a craving for it. I suppose I don't eat it often enough to get that.

Yes because of convenience in price and time. I also think that McDonalds can be pretty damn good when you're in the right mood for it. I'm actually more of a Wendy's fan myself but there are a lot more McDonalds around than Wendy's.

In regards to Supersize Me, did McDonalds really get a heavy blow in business? All I remember this documentary doing was getting the supersize option banned, although good riddance to that anyways. I saw the documentary but wasn't really impressed because the results from regularly eating healthy and excercise to fast food for every meal a day are not very shocking. Replace pretty much any fast food, maybe even regular restaurant and it will probably yield the same results.

McDonalds also has a special place in my heart because one time I went with a rather large group of people and we ordered, no joke, 1000 chicken nuggets. Good times were had by all.

Which issue was that? The issue where you shouldn't eat fast food every fucking meal of every single day? I actually knew about that one before the documentary, believe it or not.

I haven't ate there for at least 10 years. It is truly disgusting. Not because of the video, I just couldn't take it anymore.

Unfortunately, it's the only place out here where I can spend a dollar effectively. Now, if I had a slightly fatter wallet, I wouldn't waste my time with such riff-raff like McDonalds. Instead, I would fire-grill some steaks and call it awesome.

But being poor sucks. So it seems I have to stick with low-tier crapola like grease wrapped around a patty made from God knows what and put on the saddest bun I've ever seen.
