I do fear it, I enjoy living and I don't want it to end. I also especially fear dying before I have achieved my purpose in life, whatever that might be.

I do not fear death, but I do fear dying in a pathetic manner. Anything other than an over-the-top last stand or saving a friend's life in a dramatic fashion (potentially both), all the while killing everything that meant harm to us, would be rather disappointing.

But afraid, no.

Ask me on a whim, I'll say "Nopes, I'm not afraid.". Because death usually comes unexpectedly.

Tell me that three days from now I will be murdered by a man with a butcher knife (and lets say that I know it is true what you say) then yes, I will slowly but surely get very terrified for my death.

I am going to murder you with a rusty butter knife in three days.

I didn't used to be afraid of death, in fact, I kind of accepted it. Eight years ago when I was coming out of high school, I was CONVINCED that I was going to join the United States Marine Corps, and I was going to fight and possibly die fighting on a distant battlefield. And that was that. I didn't see any other alternative, nor did I want to see any other kind of alternative. We've had 16 generations with at least one male in the army in my family, and I wanted to be the 17th.

Then, in the course of a year, everything changed. My older brother encouraged me to apply to college and I got in, I got my first girlfriend, I fell in love, and suddenly I felt like I had something to live for. Like life was not only worth living, but a pleasure to live as well. I think about joining the army now and the thought scares the hell out of me. It's not necessarily fighting, it's just thinking about all the sudden and random ways you can die on a battlefield. I wouldn't say the thought of death controls my life, but it definitely guides it.

Yes, I am. Every so often I get those late-night thoughts of what the world will be like when I'm gone, and if I'll even be remembered. I do not want to die. I know I will, I just hope it's at least two or three centuries from now.

Not exactly death. Early death, yes. I want to live my life.
But natural? That's fine by me.

Honestly no. Everything dies, it's just a matter of when. It will kinda suck not to be able to think anymore, especially since I;'m always in my head as is, but at least I'll get a well needed, well deserved rest.

Do I fear death? No. Not death itself. Death is natural and normal no matter how sad it can be. What I fear is after. Not knowing what's there, if anything. Hell, not knowing, period. Not being aware. That's what scares me.

I do not worry or fear about death in my day to day life, but if I was faced with imminent death I would probably be at least somewhat afraid.

That's a tough one to be honest as I really have no idea what, if anything, comes next. It's really just that uncertainty that gives me pause. So, no, I don't think it's fair to label it as fear at all. As much as it's fear, it's also curiousity I suppose. If it happens, it happens.

Yes.

I have panic attacks if I think about it too much.

So now I'm leaving this thread forever.

Good-bye!

My main fear isn't to die, but to have myself, my work, and my accomplishments simply forgotten when I pass to the grave. The fear of simply being forgotten after I die has sometimes kept me up at night.

At 16, I am WAY too young to be worrying about that sort of thing.

Hmmm, I fear more about the death of family members, or my family's reaction to my death. By caring about my family, by proxy, I worry about dying, but I'm not so sure about death. I definitely fear pain, though.
