When I went I didn't really like it that much. I liked Austria and Switzerland much more then I liked Germany, but I was only ever in the Southern part.

I've only visited Germany for a brief period of time. But the food was yummy, the scenery was nice, and the people were quite tolerant of some Yankee wandering around. So I'm cool with Germany.

Germany's awesome. You got beer and death metal and goths and...um...well I don't know what else they have in Germany but that's good enough for me.

I have German ancestry, for that reason I really like Germany. I'd never live there because of the censorship laws, but I'd love to holiday there.

I've never been there or met any, but they make good cars and guns so they are cool in my book.

You mean Germany? The country with zero-tolerance for drunk drivers, the country that teaches the hell out of the war that made them infamous instead of denying it ever occurred?

Love them Krauts.
I can respect that.

OT: I'm part Austrian, so yeah, I like the Germans.

Fun people overall. A bit crazy, but then again, who isn't?

Seeing as how Germany brought some of the best beer, sausages, strudel, Rammstein, and some amazing weapons technology, yes, I very much like Germany.

Eh, the place was a little expensive and a little crowded for my taste when I lived there. The people generally got nicer the further from France you were... and there's one thing that Germans seem to do better than anyone: civic engineering. Highways, sidewalks, bike paths- you name it, they're great at designing and building it.

Germany's pretty cool. They've got Europe's strongest economy, they don't hide the atrocities they committed in the past (*cough*Japan*cough*), they help bail out other European nations...I hear their food sucks though.

Kindof a weird thread topic though.

Germany is awesome - great beer, talented engineers, friendly people, simple but tasty traditional foods. Don't keep blaming them for the issues of one Austrian with bad ideas.

[sub]And don't mention the war! I did, but I think I got away with it. [/basilfawlty][/sub]

sort of confused, the thread title says "do you like germany" but your post says "what do you think about germans?" there is a big difference so i'll answer both.

germany as a country has a long history and there is a lot of stuff to learn about but overall i think it would be fun to go there and check out the differences between germany and the united states.

as far as germans go, just like any race of people there are good people and bad people...there are a lot of famous germans though.

1) My grandparents are German.
2) When I went to Berlin, I thought it was great. The people were very friendly, some even went out of their way to help us. As far as living there, I think I agree with loc978. Too expensive and crowded for permanent residence. The layout was amazing. In the week there, I saw tons and tons of cars. No traffic jams at any hour. Well designated bike paths/sidewalks. Even the average building impressed me. Here in the US, practically every building is made to stand out and look "the best" on its own. In Berlin, it seemed like more thought was put into taking their building's design into context with surrounding architecture.
3) How can you really hate German food. I can understand not liking all of it, but there's some really good choices there.
In short. Great place to visit, but I wouldn't want to have to live there.
