Poll: Do you think Skyrim has to much hype?

yes, judging purely by the fact that the line for it at gamescom was the longest all day long. MW3 and BF3 had ebbs and flows, Skyrim was always packed.

Yes. It looks like a slightly better version of Oblivion, which, quite frankly, was mediocre at best.

Come on now, try and answer the question objectively, just because you didn't like Oblivion doesn't mean that Skyrim doesn't deserve it's hype.

It doesn't look that much better then Oblivion, though.
And being slightly better than a sub-par game shouldn't get you hype.

At first i was all like its going to be a total GOTY and amazing...
But then i herd that its made for Xbox and PC gamers are getting a port...

Maybe, i'm not sure yet...
But for me, my biggest fear is: bugs. Like fallout or oblivion, both were ruined by bugs. Oh, and I'm wondering if my computer will be able to handle it.

I loved Morrowind, but come on: once you strip off the pretty landscapes and huge sandbox, all of Bethesda's games are pretty fucking rotten. How "good" a Bethesda game really depends on how long it takes all the pretty veneer and gilding to rub off and for you to finally see the terrible, terrible underlying game.

Which is exactly why people, nearly a decade after its release, still play vanilla morrowind and love the shit out of it... >_>

Havent seen too much hype about it, besides the usual pre-launch leaks, but any game that takes a long time to be released cause there wasnt a disk format that could hold it all has to have something really going for it. But at least i know it wont be another lair.

Er, you totally missed my point.

Just because you thought Oblivion was sub-par, that doesn't mean that it was objectively a bad game. Also, there are many new additions being made to Skyrim*, so it's a tad unfair to try and claim that it will only be "slightly better".

Basically no. The Elder Scrolls has a very strong and devoted fanbase, we'll almost certainly love it to bits and will still be playing it in ten years time. Past experience with all the old games teaches us that this game will be the messiah.

I have to say that I personally believe that Skyrim is quite worth the hype. It's been quite a long time since the last one, and they have gone above and beyond what I had even hoped for, which may have just been Oblivion with much better graphics and more quests, but still! You get to fight DRAGONS! In beautiful graphics! And if you have seen the demo footage they have shown, you can even do finishing moves on said dragons! I just can't wait!

It's a game that will last for many years, especially if you think of DLC. And every game with a huge fan base gets a whole lot of hype.

This one will be worth it
