I though the series was really good, even through some of the fillers, but something seemed to happen where they fired one of the artists and now I can't watch it anymore. I still read the manga, but the anime is over to me.

Big spoiler:
KAKASHI DIES!

Okay, i like the anime alittle. The fightings interesting and plus...i jus tlove gaara.

The only thing that I really hate is when they do flashbacks to each of the characters about what they went through. I mean, its a good way to see how they are but keep it short! I cant count how bored i was when i managed to Sasuke Retrieval arc, even though there were some nice fights.

Naruto upsets me because of the stupid following following it has and idiot narutards who seem to love making life hard for the rest of us normal people who enjoy anime but don't take it to the point they do.

and before you ask, I watched at least 10 or 15 episodes. its gay. so very gay (which made me disappointed...I expected alot better really)

Narutards grind my gears also. I am a fan of Naruto to an extent, although it doesn't even come close to other stuff such as Rurouni Kenshin and Berserk. I only read the manga, after the show became a travesty, along similar lines to Bleach. Filler episodes hurt me.

The story in the manga is a lot more flowing, and anyone who enjoys Naruto should forget the anime and read the manga.

Gigastrike. In response to your spoiler, I won't believe it. No matter how much I re read it. I will either stay in denial forever or the writers will do something. :)

Real ninjas don't wear orange jumpsuits and yell "Believe it!" And yeah, I know that's just the english version, but he still yells too much. Maybe if Iron Ninja made an appearance on the show I'd watch it.

Its the only anime I have seen alot of besides DBZ (my misspent childhood) and I don't mind it. Mind you I was watching the japanse ones with fansubs, so it made more sense than the english version to me anyway. all the stupid filler does annoy me though.

I've been forced to watch this anime while I was babysitting. Otherwise the kid would cry if I say no.

All I can say it this. Anime about friendship will always stay either boring or meh... Altought I'm not an anime fan, I can read manga.
Naruto and bleach are what I call DBZ clones in costumes. One super new power pops up every few second.

Also, typical cliché's are everywhere
Rivals?
Protagonist with a questionable IQ, but turn out to be some ultra strong guy?
The most boring love interest?

The last anime I watched from this kind was Trigun. Which was good. (at the time).

Doesn't an orange guise mean a dead ninja?

Naruto as the manga, i love to death. Hell, im probably the only one out there whos faovorite character is the main protagonist himself. I even like the anime when they arent drowning the show in flash backs or filler.

the only thing i dont like is how friggen stupid the general fan base is. Afterall, there arent bleach-a-lites or one piece-ophiles, just Narutards.

I actually like it... Ok ok you're right, the show could remove 40 episodes and it still wouldn't make a very big difference in the story, however it is one of those weekly things that pull the stress out of my brain and actually stop me from going into depression. Monday: Dexter, Wednesday:House m.d. and Bleach, Friday: Naruto and Vampire knight. Those people who actually managed to live long enough to watch the series to Shippuden will be surprised because it was pretty much a terminal shift and I think for the better.

A lot of the people who hate it and find the characters annoying seemed to have watched it on Adult Swim or in the dubs. That explains a lot.

Am I one of those tiresome people who thinks that all dubs are crap? No, actually, and in at least one case, I actually preferred the dub BUT--

Some of the voice acting and translation choices they made for the dub are miserable. The whole "Believe it!" catchphrase is an American construction they substituted for the main characters overuse of "dattebayo" and "zettai", which is really closer to the character, like, totally using the words "like" and "totally" too much, and is, y'know, super casual and kinda hyper in the way he talks.

I don't want to nitpick my way through all the other crap I hated about their decisions with the dub (well, actually, I do, but I won't) but I do want to stick up for the show a little. I really liked it until I found myself in FillerHolm ("We don't go to FillerHolm anymore...") and then my soul died and I quit watching.

I agree with the criticism of the severely decompressed story arcs, but I'm pretty sure that was in part a sign that the producers of the show were dragging their feet, desperately trying to avoid the the forced roll into filler. The show is based on the manga, but the manga is not produced nearly as quickly as the show, so eventually the run out of material, and they can't just keep writing it themselves because they might find themselves hung out to dry when it comes time to rejoin the canon. This happens to every manga-based series, but Naruto got hit really bad. Japanese comics writers tend to be pretty good about deadlines but maybe Naruto's author just got bored and took a long break...

From what I've been able to tell, it's another series with enormous potential that is eventually squandered in the end because the author gets caught up with tournament-style fighting and bogging the main character down in "transformations". It's happened to just about every mainstream anime series with any emphasis on combat, so I'm not really surprised.

Honestly, the series doesn't bother me much. What gets to me are the obsessive fans.

couldn't agree with you more tbh. I love both the anime and the manga to death, its so well done in my opinion. but see it's probably the fact that naruto was so well marketed and recieved in the states (or am I wrong? someone let me know, i'm english after all!) that the fanbase is so large that the narutards stand out. Perhaps i'm just bitter because i liked naruto when it wasn't cool to like it back in 05 or whenever the hell it was(and when the dub groups didn't butcher the anime, to hell with 'american ninjas' TO HELL WITH THEM I SAY! I am what you would call a 'subtard' btw)

Trust me, if Bleach were as popular as naruto, and one piece wasn't bastardised by 4kids then you would see bleach-a-lites or one piece-ophiles (lol i like that one)

P.S my favorite character is naruto too. well, and kankuro, Temari (wtf happened to her? in manga and anime) and Kisame (FTW). actually if i have any problem with naruto, it's that many characters are horribly underused.

Also, I don't know how far some people are who watch it, but if you are up to date with shippuuden, remember Orochimaru walking on that bridge in that episode way back when? if you don't want something like that again, and want things as incredible as the 100 puppet fight and team kakashi fighting kakuzu and hidan then welcome fillers, welcome them with open arms!

I can see why some people like it, but in my oppinion it makes ninja's look like stupid kids and wizards.
