I like Naruto, but I don't go out of my way to watch it. If it's on, I'll turn the TV on and switch to Cartoon Network. If you're asking if I hated the filler, my answer is no. Naruto does not upset me. While the filler accomplished nothing story-wise, I liked all the super intense fights that happened during it.

There's no point getting upset over it, it'll bumble along until it's no longer profitable, and then it'll get replaced by something all but identical.
I feel the same way. And I echo the sentiment of being irritated at the fanbase. But whatever the case, It's just like Yu-Gi-Oh and Pokemon. I was fourteen when I jumped off the YGO train, and some of my friends are STILL on it. My girlfriend is also an ex (or so she CLAIMS) narutard. But whatever the case, as long as formulaic, repetitive anime remains profitable, there won't be an end to it. Sure, something like FMA will come alone once in a blue moon and gain mainstream popularity, but the creators will be too smart to bastardize it. Wait...scratch that. They're already talking about continuing that one. Confound it all to Hell and gone. V.V

About the underuse of characters, specially the female ones, well ive readed somewhere that the autor wasnt good writing stories with females characters.

The amazing filler after the retrieval arc? the autor was working in some sort of spin-off based on the childhood of Kakashi, the white haired that always wear a mask, (i dont understand why they didnt just adapted it to the anime)

But w/e, Naruto is highly enjoyable, as long as you don't take the whole ninja thingy seriously. And it's completely stupid to even go to the bound of comparing reality and fiction in this type of anime; It's like watching Star Wars and complaining about hearing laser blasts in space, or for that matter, wookies.
Until someone says it, is a bit annoying that the main complaing of the people here is that the ninjas arent like the real ninjas.

Is a effin fantasy series, about a hiperactive kid that have a powerful fox demon imprisioned in his stomach that makes him some sort red fox-themed hulk when he piss off, with a creppy guy that looks like a combination of Michael Jackson and Voldemort like a antagonist, people with white eyes that have a radio-esque super sight.

Is understandable be a bit annoyed by the fact that they can end destroying mountains and building and call themselves ninjas but i dont find that enough reason to dislike the show.

-Puts on his Neji Hyuga outfit, grabs his toy Spartan shield and re-names it "The Anti-Flame/BS Shield of pure epic win", plants in the ground, and prepares to speak-

The reson for that action was to ensure that I don't get alot of flak from what I'm about to say...and to get a bit of a laugh.

Naruto as a character does not upset me...Mainly due to the fact that he, unlike some of the others, has redeeming qualities about him. Sure he's loud...But so is Goku from DBZ, Kamina from Topha Tenge Gurren Lagann, Luffy from One Piece, and various others that I can't name at the moment. But the fact that he fights for friend and village out-weighes most of his flaws...at least, in my opinion.

Neither does the series. The fillers are a dime a dozen...for every some-what enjoyable one, you find ten to twelve crappy ones. Doesn't really bother me in the least that they took ninja's and took away the stealthy-ness and inserted DBZ-esqe powers in there, because I believe in the word "Creativity".

Some of the character's, however, make me want to reach into the screen and strangle them...Take Sakura Haruno for example, she's one of the mains and yet she is as useless as a blanket dipped in gasoline being used to combat a fire. This is only in the first part of the series, however, before Tsunade comes into the picture...Since then, she's grown physically, mentally, and emotionally...The cracks of her pre-Shippuden self still come through sometimes, but I've since then gotten used to it.

Now onto the series's resident emo(joke), Sasuke Uchiha...What's there to say about this guy? Hm...For one, he fits the 'rival/Anti-Hero' formula perfectly. Bad past? Check! Desire for revenge against family member and/or other people who were involved with making said past bad? Check! Girls oozing over him, both in the anime and in life? Check! Not having a clue what makes this dude so likable when he's obviously, most of the time, a one track minded douche? Double Check! I could go on about Sasuke's various faults...but I won't, mainly due to the fact that I no longer hate him because he and Itachi did away with Orochimaru...

Point is, I like it...Fillers tended to get old, but that is part of the process...I think.

I went through an anime phase myself and ended up trying Naruto and even then I never got into it. I don't know maybe it was the uninteresting, annoying characters or the fact the plot was far too long and uninteresting and half the episodes is just people talking about stuff you all ready learned in past episodes.

And even the fight scenes were disappointing. When they finally happen it was great but there are so infrequent that its not worth it and then most of the time the the characters just talk for the entire time till one finally unleashes a supper attack and destroys his opponent. Or just to spice things up they talk for five minutes fight for ten seconds and talk for ten more minutes.
Can you feel that coursing though you? No its no adrenalin its just boredom

The only time Naruto is watchable is when they have those cool fight scenes, the ones that are...higher quality? Like Sasuke vs Naruto, or when Sasuke fights that Snake Lady. Other than that it kinda sucks...BELIEVE IT!

I don't hate Naruto, I just hate how he says "Believe It!" all the time on the American t.v. show.

He needs to be a spokesman for "I Can't Believe it's not Butter!"

To be completely honest naruto is a weird show, in that its very good despite all the fillers, same as legend of zelda, you've seen it time and time again yet it doesnt stop you liking it...thats just a personal opinion though

Arguably, if they'd rendered his unique vocal style accurately in English, it would be even more annoying, because he would basically be speaking like a valley girl, with every third word being either "like" or "y'know".

While i'm a fan of the series, I'm inclined to agree that FILLERS = LOSE, but that's expected. . .and tolerated for the most part. Since. . .to be perfectly honest. . .there's not much we can do about it.

Maybe WE can do nothing about it, but filler is just cheap crap and any series including it should immediately drop points in anyone's eyes.

Ahem.

To change tack:
I've never seen Naruto and intend to keep it that way, thank you.

I honestly think that any anime fan, unless they're just extremely hardcore otaku, can only like two or three standard long running action animes. After that, you pretty much know what you're getting, and asking us to watch yet ANOTHER 200+ series of it is just a pain. It all just runs down to personal taste.

I'm not sure if that'll happen for me though. 54 episodes is usually my limit. DBZ was an exception since I was watching it when I was first getting into anime (I was done after the Cell sage). I've always gotten started into series like Naruto (10 eps fansubbed), Rurouni Kenshin (one DVD), Yu Yu Hakasho (one DVD), Rekka no Honoo (hmmm...5 eps fansubbed?), Bleach (3 eps fansubbed), and Hunter X Hunter (10 eps fansubbed), and then lost interest and moved on. If it's on T.V., I'll check out an episode or two, which is why I can stand to keep watching the awful Bount filler in Bleach (tolerable in small doses).

I did really like One Piece when it was on. And I'm really enjoying Soul Eater at the moment. It's actually managed to stay fun for me past 25 eps, so that's pretty good in my book.

Are we naming favorite shows? Hellsing T.V. and Saikano. Both 13 eps, short and sweet.

What I've read of the manga is pretty alright, but the series does go on too long and the anime is a large portion filler.

If your question had been 'Was I upset that episodes 136 to 220 actually had nothing to do with Naruto', I would be in the Very Much So category,
I would have to, I ended up skipping 190(I'm surprised I lasted that long looking back) onwards because it felt like nothing was happening, shippuden is good though. So back on topic, no, I'm not upset they continued it.

All the way to the end of the fight with zabuza it felt a great anime. From there on, there are good moments. A lot of people seem to be complaining about Sasuke Retrieval Arc. For me Sasuke Retrieval Arc was ...meh. It was good i guess. Still an enjoyable anime untill there.

After sasuke retrieval arc everything feels like its gone downhill. Some enjoyable moments but its getting more and more repetitive. Even in shippuden it still feels like something is missing... or maybe Someone?

Overall, it doesn't REALLY annoy me. It just doesn't make me like it either.
