I don't hate it. I haven't played Halo 3, but overall it seems okay.

Now console shooters kinda suck in my experience.

Back to Halo, the story is rather generic - but so are pretty much all the mainstream sci-fi stories. Gameplay in Halo 2 was okay.

I don't like Halo, but I see no reason to hate it either.
It's just a mediocre shooter with a bland and uninteresting story.
I realize it has done loads for the console FPS genre, but being a PC gamer, I'm still unimpressed by the game itself.
Although I do admit I've gotten some enjoyment out of the co-op a couple of times.

The recharging shield was a nice idea though.

thanks to console fps 3d platformers died. and halo represents everything thats wrong with console fps.short singleplayer bad story macho stuff bad controls(oke not bad but not even close to mouse and keyboard)and bad Vehicle sections and more.

It is alright but there are plenty of games surpassing it that people I usually play on LIVE with more or less refuse to acknowledge.

Halo is pretty boring Single-player wise, but Multi-player wise, it's just pure, stupid fun. That's the point. Not enough fun to make me rush out and buy an Xbox 360 just to play it, though.

I enjoyed Halo 1 on PC. But the series and later games, especially Halo 3, are unbelievably overrated. I mostly hate all the fan boys that treat it as the word of God, not as much the actual games.

I like it. But not everyone does and I'm fine with that.

OTeople have opinions. I like halo 1. I hate halo 2-3. I never played halo ODST. Reach looks like fun. Mostly, the series gets a solid meh. The gameplay is repetitive, incredibly easy in 2-3(oh joy, regenerating health), the areas are bland, and the online was only fun in the original.
The books are awesome.

As a Sony fanboy I'm contractually obligated to hate Halo.

But if Bungie, now working for the Activision, make a multiplatform game my stance will change from automatic hatred of Bungie games to "cautious optimism", and I'll say stuff on forums like "well I'll wait until I try it out"

Until then, KillZone is the better franchise.

I believe I'm also obliged to make off-colour remarks about the sexuality of any sony fanboys, their mothers, and their dogs... I've never really got the hang of that bit though.

Of course most people arent gonna hate halo. Its a fan boy games. Even if Halo 3 and 2 completly sucked they'd still think its the greatest thing since toast. and alot of peopel get SOOO angry when you bash halo. Mainly because their lil 12 year olds or because they're your typical nerdy fan boys.

And whats sad is the Call Of Duty franchise has fallen victim to being fanned boyed. Yes I loved both the first and second MDW and all the games before that, but the online is not that addicting, Yeah i played it for a few weeks maybe even months. But I didnt prestige a billion times...I didnt even prestige once.

Good job on the mass generalization! Guess what, I dislike halo 2-3 because it offered little more than making the game incredibly easy due to regenerating health and shields. The environments are repetitive, and beyond the first one and books the story is crap.
Oh, and I dislike CoD as well. I don't play either!
I prefer Borderlands, Bioshock, Fallout (the series), TF2, HL, and many other FPSs I don't like halo for reasons stated above and more. It seems like your only saying something like this: "Only people that don't like (insert favorite game here) like (insert hated game here)." Your coming off as an arrogant idiot who believes that no good games exist outside of your favorites and that no one else is entitled to an opinion.
I have reasons why I dislike games. I understand others like games I don't. Every person has a different opinion. Suck it up, accept that others may not like the games you like, and let everyone enjoy the games they want to.
Oh, and before you ask I am a PS3FAG and pretty damn proud of it. But, I still let others enjoy the xbox.
