It only gets better, now that our oldest son is of age (6 years old this week), we set up his Xbox account. We've got her Xbox up stairs, 2 PCs downstairs (we're still playing MMOs together FFXI, FFIXV and waiting for Old Republic). There's a PS3 in our living room and a Wii somewhere in the house.Ionait said:Truer words have ne'er been spoken. And it's nice that we can play two totally different games as well, side by side. Right now he's playing FFXIII and I'm bouncing between Persona 3 and Valkyria Chronicles on a whim. We're constantly muting one tv's volume and turning up the other whenever one of us has a cutscene.
Ya I have a girlfriend into gaming, although its clear Im into it way more than her.Darkauthor81 said:My girlfriend just recently got into Disgaea. Since she's never played a tactical rpg before I have to help her out a lot. But she's a completionist and she loves the characters and the art style. So once she gets her head wrapped around the game mechanics I'm sure she'll take the game farther than I ever did. (There's tons of content after the main story I never touched)
She got me into pokemon and Persona and our roles were reversed with me having to ask her something every five minutes.
So, do any of you have, or have had, a gamer girlfriend? Share your experiences.
PS. We recently bought a bearded dragon lizard. We named him Laharl.![]()
Ya know... even though we both HATE children and will never have any I still found that adorable and touching.olfelix said:It only gets better, now that our oldest son is of age (6 years old this week), we set up his Xbox account. Gaming has become a family activity, we're enjoying Marvel vs. Capcom tourneys after dinner and we even got a Kinect to see what that was all about...
You're beginning to sound like a technophilic Ignatius J. Reilly.RAKtheUndead said:I love (read: hate, loathe, despise) the assumption that all of us are somehow able to get women to be attracted to us. I do not fall into that category. As few women have ever been attracted to me, none of them gamers, and I've never had a girlfriend at all, I think you can extrapolate easily what my response is to this. This is not an unusual fate for somebody who deals with obsolete computer systems as a hobby and who's read his way through a car mechanic's course manual for fun.
For the record, I'm largely of the opinion that women who game heavily are generally less interesting, more intolerant and more unpleasant people to be around than those that don't play games at all. Some of the female gamers that I've met have been downright nasty and foul individuals, unworthy of my respect or my attention. Of course, they probably think exactly the same about me, so it all balances out.
Eh. Didn't feel like it. Besides, wouldn't posting on a month dead thread be necro posting? And if you're so disgusted by the topic why did you come in here to tell your story?Bara_no_Hime said:This thread again?
Hi. Gamer girlfriend, right here. **waves**
I've also had gamer girlfriends. I don't know why everyone thinks this is so rare these days - there are tons of female gamers now, more than... well, ever before. JRPGs recruit more female gamers than any other genre (which is why people should stop hating on them), particularly games like Persona 3 and 4 that have a strong focus on story. Also Xenosaga and Final Fantasy. And, the WRPG Dragon Age has done it's fair share as well. Great games all.
I commented on this thread's identical twin last month. Check the archives, please.
If there are guys who feel threatened by girls beating them at video games... then that's kind of sad.Darkauthor81 said:Guys don't like women they feel threatened by. Yawn.
Adversely, girls don't like men they feel threatened by either. Which is why so many girls love having a gay guy friend. A guy they can feel completely comfortable with. It's just that women have never been in power enough to impose their insecurities on us like we have on them.
I know how you feel. But this isn't a gamer guy specific generalization. It's a fact that, even though we've come a long way in our views of women and ourselves, many people still aren't there yet and that we have a long ugly history to get over. While this type of insecurity and sexism is foreign to you and me, it's very real for many others even of our age group.zehydra said:If there are guys who feel threatened by girls beating them at video games... then that's kind of sad.Darkauthor81 said:Guys don't like women they feel threatened by. I'd say that's kind of a generalization. There are LOTS of guys who feel totally comfortable with girls being better than them. I am a little offended by this.
