I've never had this insult flung at me. I'm actually a pretty social creature, and when I tell people I game, they say "Yeah right." I asked them why one, and they said it's because I don't fit the stereotype of the lonely loser gamer who spends all their time playing games by themselves. Most of the gamers I know don't fit the stereotype either. Besides, we don't need lives; we have plenty :)

I usually go with a nerdy one, like "where can I download that?" or "I'm a gamer, I have lots of lives." That's just how I roll.

Generally(?) my answer is something like: "So says the person who is addicted to (insert addiction here).

Some examples of "addiction" are: Facebook, wacthing pro sports, Twilight, etc.

Although "I'm a gamer. I have many lives." is also very good.

Golf and NASCAR are terrible sports.

Every time I see a thread on this site where you lot give each other advice on how to deal with Jocks/Chavs/Bullies/Whatever I die a little bit inside. Seriously, you guys really need to just figure this kind of crap out for yourself and stop it with the absolutely horrible advice you give each other.
You got trapped the same way as me I see, this site says "computer game discussion" but it means "a few really cool people amidst a sea of communal loser legitimisation". I hate the stereotype that everyone hates gamers and frankly if someone tells you to 'get a life' it's worth considering, we've all read this week's article, how much time did you spend alone in your room?

Seriously, dismiss another person's opinion if it's ridiculous but consider it first. Saying gamers need to get a life is wrong? How come we all seem to need a whole community circlejerk before we'll ask a girl out?
We like circlejerking?

If they're an idiot, ignore them.

If not, explain why I believe that the life I already have is an awesome one.

I don't consider it an insult. I consider it a pretty bad attempt at one.

As far as what I do; Nothing. I don't have to explain myself to anyone.

I feel bad for anyone that thinks that telling someone they have no life in an insult. My life may not be extravagant or extraordinary, but it sure as hell isn't spent making horrible attempts to insult others to make myself feel better.

I just feel like the people who keep telling me to get a life lack one themselves. Case and point, emo kids, jocks who live for sports, quidos, etc. So really, who doesn't have the life?

I usually agree with them.
I don't have a life. Not much point continuing an argument I know I can't win.

They be all like "Get a life" and I be all like "Fuck you".

And then I bust out my kung fu.

What problems in life cannot be solved by busting out the kung fu?
