Shapeshifter would be nice. As long as I could still reproduce when in human form. I mean, I do want kids someday, after all.

Bleh, just giving up being "human" isn't as interesting as giving up a "humanoid" form. Anyway I'll go with the old superior energy-based life form.
I'd probably go with this, unless it's a solid (or as solid as it can get) energy-based life form. I'd enjoy just being able to float around, watching, and possibly messing with people's lives. WHERE IS YOUR LAPTOP'S CHARGE NOW?!?

Errr... If being a shapeshifter that allows you to choose your former human form at will is an option, what reason would there be to say no?

As fucking awesome as it would be to be a dragon, it would also eliminate a lot of convenience human-tech provides.
I'm sure government regulation would act as a total killjoy for the flying aspect alone.
So realistically, unless it's a strict upgrade from my current abilities and access, I'd have to say no.

Yep, I would be Protoss. Their whole species and culture just sounds so much better than ours. I would prefer it immensely.

I like my body, and this world has been shaped for humans. It may not always seem like it, but out of the real life-forms out there, we are the best choice. (And if you choose dragon, be aware that the US military will, for some reason, feel the need to kill or contain you. Shit life, man.

Yes: I would be a shapeshifter, able to be in a plethora of forms, including, but not limited to, my former human form, and a river otter. why? because I could be anything I ever wanted to be, at least physically.
Shapeshifter is a massive fucking cop-out. It has no downside, where every other form should. Who the fuck wouldn't want to become a shapeshifter, because they could just continue to be a human. COOOOOP-OOOOUT.

A sentient, mobile, somewhat angry jar of mayonnaise. With guns, porn, and Motley Crue in hammer space. Traveling through space and time. On a magic motorcycle. With a tasty Slim Jim in my mouth as if it were a cigarette. I would feel like a brand new man. Er, jar of mayo.

I would change to a shapeshifter, though it seems like it would be cheating. It's essentially the all-in-one option.

But screw the rules, I want to be a 20-ft dragon that kill terrorists, and eats cars!

I would under very select circumstances. I would do it if I got to be a werewolf from the Mercy Thompson series. That's the only "canon" option that comes to mind, but a general shapeshifter would be nice.(the OP said he would do a shapeshifter though I don't really think that that is "giving up the human form" it's more like gaining a super-power. It's only giving up the human form if you lose something intrinsic to being human.

Maybe. I guess I'd like the choice to be able to shapeshift, but develop the instincts of what I change into so that I'm not socially awkward amongst my animal brethren. I'd probably only bother changing into a house pet though like a dog or cat. If my owner sucks, then I'll just turn human and walk the hell outta there using the front-fucking-door. If they're about to torture me or something, then I'll turn into a rhinoceros and fucking trample my way out. This is assuming that there are no realistically bad consequences for shapshifting, and that it's just like cartoon shapeshifting.

I think many people say yes but don't think it trough. It might be fun being an eagle, flying, hunting, zooming eyes... But then one day, you might want to talk, use thumbs or play a computer game. An eagle can't do either of those things. So I would if I could change back at some point, but I like my human form, despite not being able to fly (on your way like an eagle, fly as high as the sun on your wings like an eagle etcetcIronMaidenetc...)

Hmmmmmm....do specific non-human characters count? If so, I'll take Alucard from Hellsing Ultimate. Thank you. :p

If not, then I'd be a Predator. Ever since I was a kid I've been a massive fan of Predators. Every time I've gotten into one of these discussions and brought up that I'd be a Predator everyone normally says "That's lame, they always end up losing!" Yeah, they do, but that's because they're classified as a frickin' bad-guy. Want the predator to win? Play the AvP games or read some Predator-based fan-fic.

Maybe its a sign of repressed psychopathic feelings (>:D) but I'd love to be an alien with highly advanced technology that goes around hunting the best combatants that humanity has to offer...and xenomorphs. :p

Also, I love the growl/clicking sounds they make...actually a series of those as my ringtone. :3

UNdecided, I would probably change my form, but I can't decide on what I would want to be. a microbe of some kind maybe, or maybe something immortal like a fairy, there's just too many choices.

So, the choice is to remain as a human with all the fancy advantages a human gets, or become anything else; including a creature that can naturally turn into a human AND anything else?
