Who the hell said neither? Both is the obvious choice for me, but I would prefer Half Life 2: Episode 3 if I had to choose one.

The Half Life 2 series needs to end.I was left hanging at Episode 2,so I would enjoy closure.

Portal shouldn't have a sequel, because it would end up killing the series if done incorrectly.

HalfLife. Just because I found Portal to be a poor puzzler capable of being completed in one sitting. Puzzles should have to be thought about and have people thinking and thinking for a solution. If you can complete a game of puzzles in each room in one sitting there is something wrong.
Yes I thought some part were funny and the idea was original. It just does not live up to how much everyone loves it.

How...?

And the title of this thread needs a "for" after "waiting."

Anyway, I'd like to see both of them. Don't make me choose!
well it would be killing the game as it was more a peace of innovation that was backed by the half life universe rather than a proper game

I think both of them are taking the Duke 'Em: Nuke 'Em route and will eave us speculating and then infuriated for the next 10+ years. Portal 2 might be interesting, but where would it go from there? A different test subject, despite the destruction of GLaDOS? Feh, we might as well accept Portal Prelude [http://www.portalprelude.com/] and The Flash Version Map Pack. [http://portalmaps.wecreatestuff.com/] Episode 3 if and when released will hopefully do well, but Hell if I know. (Didn't play the episodes. Sue me.)

Episode 3. Portal is just the kind of game that shouldn't be turned into a series. The story was self-contained, and I can't see how they could add on to and still keep the gameplay similar. Then again, if anyone can do it, it's Valve.
I'd still rather see the Episodes conclude though.

Thank you - I'm a little miffed as to why people cannot grasp this simple idea - we don't need sequels to every successful IP. Portal was great because it was innovative and new. Not only would a sequel not live up to the gigantic hype, but it would potentially ruin the soon to be cult following the game will receive. (hence kill the "series").

Portal was a gimmick, not a full game but an add-on to an already successful universe. Creating a sequel would be a bad idea in my view.

I'm yet to see any reason why it shouldn't be (so far your arguments have all effectively said "I liked Portal so they should make a sequel" without grasping the above statement.)

I'd have to go with another Portal.
Because I wouldn't play the new half life. I tried playing 2 but I wasn't to fond of it and it didn't amuse me that much. So I wouldn't play it, but I would play the new Portal.

Episode 3. The ending for portal was relatively conclusive. The end of Ep. 2 isn't, I more eager to continue the story of Half-life than I am to start a new one with Portal.

Portal 2, I think I definitely enjoyed Portal more overall. I never really got why Half-Life won so many awards - it was just a linear shooter to me.

Im not even looking forward to Portal 2. Chances are that its not gonna live up to the first one and ruin it for me.

Because it revolutionised storytelling and character based FPS's...

IMHO Episode 3= Portal 2
Crossing the wastes, you see a slumped frozen body. You flip it over to see a female eurasian face, of caucasian complexion. You look down at the body and see the ill-fitting orange jumpsuit and a strange addition to her legs. You look at her hands, clutched in one is a note, the other the portal gun. You take the note, take the gun, unfold the note and read it, and the note says

The cake is a lie!

No?

Okay not to sound like a graphics whore or anything but come [http://www.forest.impress.co.jp/article/1999/03/03/game25_half-life1.jpg] on [http://image.com.com/gamespot/images/screenshots/gs/news/010608/dmc_screen002.jpg]. Freaking Quake back on the PSX looked better than that. Maybe if I can find some decent retextures...
That's half life 1... The game was released in 1998, and those screenshots are using low settings. Of course they are going to look like crap. Half life 2 [http://image.com.com/gamespot/images/2004/screen0/582864_20040511_screen005.jpg] on the other hand, looks amazing.

Anyway, I would prefer Ep3, mostly because It will be a full game, unlike portal. I mean, portal was great, I had fun with it, but there was simply too little there for it to be worth adding to. Portal had 2-3 hours of gameplay, and that was stretching the limits of what you can do when given a portal gun and told to get to the elevator. Ep3 actually has potential to be a full game.

I don't care if they get release or not. I haven't played through Half-Life 2 (bought The Orange Box about two months ago) because it's too boring in my opinion.

Portal was great but I don't think we need a second one.

Way to take screenshots from the demo, before they moved it over to the Source engine.

The original Half-Life was made at that right point in time where the technology and graphics were good enough that it's never too old. I can understand if you were to think Wasteland was too dated, but there is just nothing wrong with Half-Life.

Editz0r: You can also change the settings.
