Another one of these threads?

OT: I wasn't aware there was a huge harry-potter hate movement. Didn't everyone hate Twilight?

I don't hate the books, and I didn't hate the movies, so I guess I'm neutral on this subject.

The books were alright. I don't hate them but not the greatest on my list.

[small]Although book 5 I loathed. It was so boring and it took me about 4 attempts to read the whole way through.[/small]

Because they are actually really bad books which you will learn when you read a really good book. I put J. K. Rowling in that same place as I put Dan Brown and Stephanie Meyer(is that the twilight idiots name?).
J.K. Rowling is far from a fantastic author, but putting her on the level of Stephenie Meyer is a bit much.

Because of what the author did to it. In the first couple of books, there was a sense of wonder to them, like magic was something amazing and the world was unique. By the third book, it was going away, was almost gone in the fourth, and was non-existent in the fifth onwards. The magic became just another part of the universe as the books came to be more and more like a script, away from the wonder and more about the "action."

Probably because of the popularity or hype. Hype ruins a lot of good things D:

I have to say HP was a lot less disturbing than Twilight... Harry Potter was great in terms of getting in to the mind of a traumatized boy growing up in a magical but corrupted world. However, he was an annoying teenager as we all were and the final book suffered a lot from angst, drama, sentimentality and Jesus parallels. I enjoyed it as a kid I was at the perfect age to really grow up with Harry, but I feel her style changed as Harry himself grew hence the teen-trash you get in the later books whereas the early ones retain a heart warming nostalgia.

Ok, so between everyone in the thread we have found that their is no hate at all for harry potter. Let alone when you consider the hate their is for Twilight, George Lucas, Michael Bay and errr the jonas brothers (yeah, that will do).

You know, just to balance this whole thing out and make the post seem necessary I'll pretend to hate Harry Potter when I'm just indifferent to the whole thing. You know, just so no one is wasting their time.

I WOULD TOTALLY TAKE A SWAT TEAM TO THAT SHITTY SCHOOL AND FUCK UP THE PLACE. WHAT THE FUCK THEY GONNA DO TO ME? AVADA CA-*BOOM HEADSHOT*

I'll kill those little scamps for their racism towards normal people (muggles), I think an F15 air strike to JK Rowlings house will do for a start, followed by a oribital bombardment of the actors houses and loved ones. Fuck everything to do with this global franchise, damn I hate popular things!

I never bothered to read the last book (Deathly Hallows or whatever) because by the time it was out, I'd found more engrossing stories that I wanted to finish.

Also, I found the writing to be a little bit less quality than other books I'd read, and I know that shouldn't effect me reading it, but I found it hard to visualise which removed any immersion.

As an example of this, today I read both Superior Saturday and Lord Sunday by Garth Nix in about 7 hours...which I don't like to do, but they both REALLY grabbed me due to the description.

It took me about a month to read book 6 of Harry Potter...even then I was very uninterested.

I enjoyed them. I grew up with the books, so I got into them a fair bit.
I haven't seen that many people who hate them to be honest, particularly not with Twilight out these days. That (deservedly) gets all the hate.

Eh, it's junkfood literature. Read it, forget it. Soon as you think to much about it, then it falls apart

I'm completely indifferent about the books. The only books i really dislike are the twilight series, but that's another story.

I fail to see much hatred for the books or the movies. I read them once and won't likely do so again. I find it to be too focused on the raging emotions of a disturbed teen with magic. It fails to tie me to the characters or the theme. However, the setting is well played out and the movies do a good job of showing them, I just wish that they would turn up the light, not turn it down every movie. I can barely see anything sometimes.

Until you back up your opinion with some kind of supporting argument you're posts are no better than those of a screeching troll.
Harry Potter reached incredible levels of popularity, and I know the opposing argument is "so has Twilight". However Twilight has a very specific audience, pre-teen to middle age women who enjoy trashy romance fiction. Harry Potter on the other hand, appealed to kids of all ages and genders, and their parents too. You may not like Rowling's writing but she sure as hell did something right.

Correct, she plagiarised off a an excellent author called Neil Gaiman, hence my pointing out that everyone should read it. Especially her fans.

Slavery, heroine and female circumcision are also very popular with diverse groups at different times.

I loved Harry Potter. I wish I could be magic and have an english accent. When I do get an english accent (for whatever reason, chemical, accident, ect.), the first thing I will say is "crumpet" or "biscuits and tea".

Its not that its bad or anything, its just been going on for so bloody long that I'm just sick of it, besides as far as the rest of the films are concerned, the end of the books marked the end of my affiliation of the series. Sorry J.K.
