most bodies have a numeric name, then later a name typically based on mythological figures, or some big names in science.
It's a system Im pretty content with for the most part.. granted were going to run out of names eventually and I'm sure drawing names from sci-fi will be more common ( to be fair most sci-fi planets are named from myth too, like Mannan in kotor...mannan is a celtic sea god, father of Llyr who is husband of Aife.)
though I do think that should we name a system certain things, and it happens to be inhabited, we should use the locals names for the planets and surrounding bodies ( granted we can pronounce them)
on the same note, I would sorta prefer that another species ( if able to) refer to our system in the names we gave them
there are a few things that come to mind that are already named off sci-fi, like Polaris, and magnitars stars are often called death stars and such.. I think that practice will just become more and more common over the next few generations.
