Do you agree with the idea of human farming? Human farming being where you clone someone, but alter their DNA so that they aren't sentient, and use the clone's juicy organs for transplants. I agree with it on the basis that they are effectively animals and we could save millions of lifes

Tough issue here. I'd probably say against, because honestly we're already having enough problems with overpopulation, and helping idiots get new organs and thus live longer certainly isn't going to help matters.

Some people might be very creeped out by animals that look like them being used for that.

I don't like the idea of genetic modification and cloning. I have a bad feeling that that is not a road we should go down.

screw using the organs, direct conscience transfers are the way forward 8)
Totally new body.
But I prefer cybernetics... replace weak fleshy parts with beautiful steel...
sorry, I'm doing it again, aren't I?

Best si-fi book EVER! The clone rebellion! Naked men with twenty livers running through the streets causing mayhem! I am for this all the way.

It's unethical no matter how you alter them. Hell, intentionally degrading DNA,be it human or anyone else's is not too ethical in itself.

Why won't we just clone organs outside of body? Sure,it's not as efficent, but it's not as Squicky as well.

I have no problem with it at all, in fact, I highly encourage it and would love to see science be able to make this move forward.

As long as it didn't have a brain (brain transplants?) it would just be meat, my meat, and it would solve the blood and organ donation crisis, as well as organ transplant rejection issues.

Its a rather sticky topic. Personally, I try to avoid the genetics side of science.

I say we build organs rather than grow fully fletched beings. Nano tech. Build organs from the molecules up, getting a custom organ without any moral issues. Will probably take longer to research than effective cloning, but ultimately is morally acceptable.

Why not just clone organs, if we're going to do cloning? I'm sure it would work just as well and without the whole moral ambiguity thing. And it would take up less space, less food and probably take less time on a whole.

EDIT: on second thought, you could just make it so they didn't have brains, though...
That would be especially useless. There are a lot of things wrong with that. On top of growing a whole lot of unnecessary organs and...so on, it would just increase the cost, because, well....it would take a lot more work to take care of them and therefore a lot more staff and so on.
Plain old organ cloning is the way to go

what will they do? drink all our alcohol?
I wouldn't really care if they did, they'd be doing us a service... but...
what about the beautiful wines?!! :O

As long as they didn't have sentience and couldn't think or realise what was happening or anything liek that then yes. If they were aware of it all then no, because that's no better than harvesting you for your organs

I hope this happens, very soon
because if I get hit by a car, and need a new, say for example BRAIN!
I would just cut out some cloned dudes grey mass, and seize it for my own.

Exactly! That is why they must be stopped! We must not let them metabolize all of our adult beverages!

We can grow cartilage, maybe later on we can create organs.
I'd be against what you call "human farming" but I'd be okay with cloning and using separate organs.

I agre with this, but with stem cells we don't need to clone someone, just recreate the specific organ from ya DNA, so that is more efficent and a lot cheaper, if you think about it, plus I think it's gonna take a while to perfect cloning and genetics at that level.
