The Conscience transfers. Cybernetics will advance pretty far but it will be a while till they are available for widespread use.Greyfox105 said:Direct Conscience Transfers or Cybernetics?Herb sewell said:This is definitely the better option but the other seems more likely to happen.Greyfox105 said:screw using the organs, direct conscience transfers are the way forward 8)
Totally new body.
But I prefer cybernetics... replace weak fleshy parts with beautiful steel...
sorry, I'm doing it again, aren't I?

now that I disagree with. I think that a human is only a human if it can think independent thoughtsNinja_X said:I agree with this.Kollega said:It's unethical no matter how you alter them. Hell, intentionally degrading DNA,be it human or anyone else's is not too ethical in itself.
Why won't we just clone organs outside of body? Sure,it's not as efficent, but it's not as Squicky as well.
Altering dna to remove sentience does not make them animals, it makes them people you fucked with.
I was told that's it's actually easier to clone a human than to grow an individual organReuq said:I <3 he Escapist community. Only here would people agree with this, thank you for being less narrowminded that everybody at my college.
OT: Its fine, but it seems a little over the top, why not just make the organs themselves? cant they do that now... and if that fails then grow them on the back of a mouse!
I'd prefer cybernetics because "conscience transfer" doesn't really work. Watch the Sixth Day, basically, it's a copy. A person with your exact memories and personality would exist but you, the real you, would still be dead. The copy would not feel the difference but I, the original, would, so why would I want that?Greyfox105 said:Direct Conscience Transfers or Cybernetics?Herb sewell said:This is definitely the better option but the other seems more likely to happen.Greyfox105 said:screw using the organs, direct conscience transfers are the way forward 8)
