I'm a hetero asexual. That's what I sort of classify myself as.

I'm not interesting in any romantic relationships, and definitely not interested in sexual ones, but I do like looking at the opposite sex as long as they are wearing pants. I might be mildly interested in getting to know them, but I'm not interested in a romantic and/or sexual relationship.

So...I think hetero asexual fits me rather nicely.

Hetero, got a gf! I do know a lot of bisexuals (girls) and lesbians, and a few gay friends of my friends.

There are plenty of other threads for with the exact same purpose, so you would be better off finding the results of one of them.
Not saying what option I chose.

Ace, for now. It might change later, but for now I feel pretty comfortable in calling myself Asexual, due to the fact that I have never had a desire to have sex. I have thought about becoming Canadian though, so who knows...

How many people here on The Escapist are gay, lesbian, bisexual or transgender? Yes, this may sound like a personal question, and you don't have to answer if you don't want to. I'm just curious! Personally, I'm bisexual, what are you?
I feel your token "let's put in a funny response to people pick it", in this case "Canadian" may have skewed the results.

Done to death already, but... Heterosexual, Canadian-curious. I've met more than my fair share of very, very attractive women from Vancouver, BC.

I don't know what to say.
While I am mainly attracted to women, I would not say not to a feminine guy. And when I say feminine I mean a guy that could pass off as a girl. So bisexual I guess, but I chose other because I'm not all that sure.

Very much heterosexual.

Also, why is transgender in a poll regarding sexuality? It has nothing to do with sexuality. It's all about gender identity.

I'm not one of those uptight Liberal "don't hurt their feelings by confusing them" types. That's not what I'm getting at. I'm just very confused why people lump a mental condition which causes people to surgically mutilate themselves into conversations of sexual preference.
Well you've answered your own question. I know you're not trying to start a fight and by God trust me neither am I, but if you believe being transgendered is a mental condition, you would pretty much have to believe that homosexuality is, too (although when I think about it, I guess ANY orientation is technically a mental condition).

You've drawn the line and called their alterations "mutilations," but to some people (again, not starting a fight, please), homosexuality is just as abominable. Heterosexuality, homosexuality, and transgender...ality (?) are all part of our individual identities, and I guess I think it's important to understand that. These aren't (for the most part) sick, fetishistic sexual perverts. Many of them don't even go under the knife, they just choose to live however makes them happy, with whoever makes them happy, and as someone who has never had a heterosexual relationship end well, I can hardly blame them for that.
I respect your opinion and I, like you, and not trying to start a fight. However, I would like to explain myself a little bit more.

When you get down to what transgender is, its somebody feeling like, because of what they love in life, enjoy in life, what have you, they shouldn't be the gender they are. I think that is a psychological backlash occurring from a culture that, despite our assertions otherwise, still has strong gender rolls built in as cultural norms. People should be able to feel comfortable being the person who they are mentally regardless of who they are biologically. However, transgenders, I believe at no fault of their own but at the fault of the society around them, have a problem in that they cannot feel happy with who they are without surgery to alter their fundamental physical structure. I think that they should be given therapy to come to terms with who they are emotionally and mentally and be able to deal with who they are physically.

In my mind, it's largely similar to any other body image disorder. People with anorexia, for example, are not satisfied with the physical body they have and so they starve themselves to destroy it rather than just coming to terms with the fact that they may never be a super model, but that doesn't mean they can't enjoy being them. Similarly, it seems to me that transgender surgery is also a radical way of addressing an issue of what, fundamentally, comes down to body image.

Okay fair enough. I think I misunderstood your original post and thought you were being more aggressive than that, and I apologize.

I could certainly get semantic about your analogy, but there's no need to haha. Your logic is sound. It would be nice to live in a world where everyone could just be whoever and whatever they wanted to be and society would just mind their own business. This oddly pervasive need to identify and label annoys me, but it would be hypocritical to say I don't participate in the exact same bullshit from different angles.

Oh well.

I'm bi, I have a weakness for some women, but I'm very picky. I tend to be attracted to men more often than women.

" There are two groups I will never understand, gay men, and straight women."

Considering the quote, I think you can tell what my answer is.

"Gay" and "straight" doesn't exist as it is portayed in the media. I wish I could find it, but there is a famous report running in America once a year for 50 years now. I don't know if it is still running. But consistently it has shown the same thing.

You have 10% of people who are 100% straight
You have a slighter large percentage of people who are mostly straight but with some homosexual fantasies.
You have another percentage of people who are slightly straight and with mostly homosexual fantasies.

Then you have bisexual people in the middle.

And the opposite for the homosexual end of the scale.

It amazed me to find this out. Viewing sexuality was never the same for me once I found out about this report.
I saw that report too. I disagreed with it though. You're either straight, gay, or bi. If you have mostly straight thoughts, surprise of surprises, you're straight.

It isn't difficult and doesn't need a complicated bell curve attached to it.
Exactly. In fact, I'll take it one step further. I would wager that most, if not all, of the escapists have had fantasies about beating the shit out of, or even killing someone. ("people who are mostly straight but with some homosexual fantasies.") does that mean we are partially murderers, or partially guilty of assault. No, of course not.

OT: I'm straight, but I live not even 30 minutes away from Canada, and there's just something about a French Canadian accent that drives me wild.
I guess we agree to disagree. I think you're wrong and you think I am wrong
