He battles super villains and performs better then most super powered heroes, not to mention the fact that he can take most super powered heroes apart if he's given a reason to. He's a super hero.
Batman battles 'supercriminals', named as such because of their maniacal deeds, not because of any powers they may possess. He performs better than a lot of superheroes in the DC universe because he's one of the smartest men on the planet. He manages to defeat Superman in 'Batman: Hush' because he's not afraid of him and because he's a lot smarter than him
OT: No, he's not. I'm a
massive Batman fan (I own a lot of Batman graphic novels and all of the films) and it's a common misconception that he's a superhero. He has no powers. He is at the peak of mental and physical ability, he is the world's greatest detective and he's a masked vigilante who acts above the law. He is not a superhero and, in truth, he's not a very nice guy. This is what makes him such an interesting character. For an example of this, I recommend Frank Miller's 'The Dark Knight Returns'. Even though it's not canon, it is one of the best Batman comic books out there
