Poll: Is It Weird When Men Love Cats?

Hell no. In my experience a cat can show just as much affection as a dog once you've properly earned its trust, if not more. So what's wrong with loving them?

As far as I'm concearned it's manlier to have a cat than a dog, why?
1. People often get dogs as "protectors", so they will feel safer, people get cats when they feel they can take care of themselves and just want some company.
2. Cats are predators, and unlike dogs they still have that need to kill, which is manly.
3. If you have a dog, you have to obey it's needs, it's like taking care of a retarded person, a cat does alot of things on his own.
4. Cats, no matter what you do, will always believe that THEY are in charge, they are the boss in the house, while dogs will surrender to their master...
5. People say "nice doggie" to dogs who do something good, people say "nice kitty" when the cats haven't done anything bad yet, ergo people knows that cat are evil creatures, and are happy and reward simply not doing evil deeds.

This is just some over the top opinions, however if you disagree you are still totally wrong.
1- People get dogs because they are friendly and love you. Though cats can be loving, I've never had a cat that was nicer than my dogs.
2- My dogs always catch rabits and rats, though why you would want any animal to kill another is wierd. I mean unless you don't feed it and let it eat other animals, I guess it's ok, but how will you stop them from eating other animals, like other peoples pets?
3- No, you have to obey a cats needs. Dogs follow you about and do what ever you tell them, while cats stay on your bed waiting you to feed them. Then when you want them to move for what ever reason, they get pissed off with you.
4- Why would you want your cat in charge of YOU. If a dog thinks you're the boss, then he will give you no trouble. Cats believe they are the boss, so when you try to get them to do something (as I said before, like moving off somewhere when you want to work there), they get angry at you. At best they run outside and stay there for hours avoiding you, at worst they try to attack you. My dogs would never do that to me.
5-Cats are not evil, they are terortorial. If they think you are invading their space, then they will try to stop you. And saying "a cat is evil" is not a good arguement to whether to get a cat rahter than a dog or any other household pet.
You sir, take things too seriously. I don't like dogs because they are needy, and bark, while cats meow, and aren't needy, also dogs are slimier. That's my opinion, and as I said earlier, if you disagree with my opinion, you are wrong :)

Oh boy...I have about 5 cats but at one time, there were nearly 20 running about (that's what happens when two of your cats get pregnant - from the same ginger tom cat - twice) and without fail, I loved each and every one of them and they - well most of them anyway - loved me back but probably just because I'm in charge of getting all the cats and dogs fed...Whatever the reason anyway, I see nothing wrong or un-manly about liking cats.

Cats pretty much do what they want all day. Aren't really a hassle, unlike dogs that just bark at the slightest off noise for 30 mins straight. Plus cats are cute

I don't mind naked cats, in fact clothed ones look rather ridiculous to me.

exactly.
cats > you.
domestic ones are just collectable miniatures, imo.

I have cats, and I don't see anything wrong with them. I mean, at one point in history they were bigger and meaner, yeah. Dogs can be just as friendly and cuddley as cats so it's not like they're always manly. Snakes though...

Pft, I friggin' love my dumbass cat, it's adorable how silly he is. One of my "punkish" friends loves him to, why would it be weird for a guy to like cats?

Just for reference, I have a tonkanese type of cat;

Pretty much looks exactly like that, how can anyone not love that adorable wittle thing?

I could never bring myself to put clothes on any kind of animal... except a human, but they usually do it themselves.

I love cats. However, for some reason people always throw verbal shit at me when I tell them I like cats more than dogs.

I prefer dogs, but cats can be quite friendly and worthy of my attention when they let me give them attention. This one buzzing cat on cat-nip tried running through a fence to avoid me (I wasn't doing anything threatening other than I looked at him) and after 5 failed attempts, ran away like a squirrel.

But some other kitties in a more residential area were quite friendly and often came up to me for some love. Usually to or from my way to the gym.

Well I not sure, the only man I know who has a cat is my uncle who has been single for twenty years...maybe there is something of a stigma for men to have a cat. Personally I don't like cats anyway, their lazy and self centred. I prefer man's best friend, dogs.

As far as I'm concerned, there's almost nothing that can make me love a man to death more than when he loves animals, especially cats, and almost nothing as off-putting as a man who believes loving animals and cuddling with them is not "manly". I officially would not be able to spend time with a man who can't live with an animal. Alright, I might be exaggerating a bit, but for the love of God, no, it's not weird. I love it and I especially have a soft spot for men and kittens, being a huge cat-lover myself. I'd dare say that a man could win me over easier with that, than with being good looking.

*struts in and mews*

Eh.. seriously is pet choice now also 100% of the reason why someone might dislike you. Oh I guess it always has been right.. yeah love is fickle, dating is a game of poker and really the rules are there to be broken

Now where is the kitty treat?

By the way if you go by glossies you gotta question how 99% of the people stay together. Seriously what glossies are saying is the biggest load of crap I seen in a while.

It might not be the most masculine thing to say, but hey, cats are cute. Kittens in particular. I don't like'em, though. Every cat looks like they're scheming for household domination.

I like turtles, myself.

OT: I don't mind cats but I prefer dogs. Dogs are more fun for me to play with (I have a german shepherd) because I can run around with them and they are much more loyal. Also, they love you unconditionally even when you're a dick at times.
