I've actually never heard of that as being something considered effeminate.

Well, being a man, I'll have to start hating cats to keep up my reputation. Too bad, I love those cute...ummm, pythons, yea.

I love my cat. I think my cat likes it when I pet her, and that's close enough to "she likes me back" for a cat. My girlfrend took me to the pound and bought her for me on my birthday. I'd say I'm pretty attached, and it's not weird at all. Cute and fluffy, yet predatory and bat-shit crazy. My kind of animal, and a good reflection of the sweet, loving, bat-shit crazy girl who purchased her for me.

I don't think it's weird for anyone to love cats, though I respect everyone's right to have their own opinion on felines.

why would it be weird for men to love cats?
that just makes no sense, why would men hate one animal over other ones.

I'm a dog person but i do like cats (looked after my friend's cat several times when he's gone on holiday).

It might not be the most masculine thing to say, but hey, cats are cute. Kittens in particular. I don't like'em, though. Every cat looks like they're scheming for household domination.

I like turtles, myself.
Out of intrest is your name Jonothan?

OT: I love kittens and cats.
Dogs think they are people
cats think they are god.

Remind me of myself.

well i have 2 cats a brother and sister, one is definately out for world domination and the other, the female ironically, is timid as fuck and runs at the sight of me unless im slow and let her come to me. I like 'em both but i prefer my dog, he is freaking retarded, and both cats manage to kill something and bring it to me as a present, even though they have literally killed all wildlife in my back garden and scared off anything else. Decapitated birds on the living room floor are not what i had in mind when i come home

It seems to be considered not 100% manly but I don't see anything wrong with it (aside from my neighbours cats D:)

Come on, cats can add so much to a man's character.

I like cats, but as a bachelor, I won't have any animals in my flat, as I don't have time to look after them or enjoy them.

To me, cats are the ultimate Wizard companion, also cats are more independent and I'm too lazy to walk a dog twice a day.

There is nothing wrong with a guy liking cats, or dogs, or any pet for that matter. I have a cat, and so does my boyfriend. I don't see why some people would have a problem with this. Here is a pic of our two cuties. ^-^

I've definately not encountered a situation where someone would think i'm homosexual couse i have a cat. If anything, having a cat has been a plus when it comes to things to talk about with the opposite gender.

As far as I'm concearned it's manlier to have a cat than a dog, why?
1. People often get dogs as "protectors", so they will feel safer, people get cats when they feel they can take care of themselves and just want some company.
2. Cats are predators, and unlike dogs they still have that need to kill, which is manly.
3. If you have a dog, you have to obey it's needs, it's like taking care of a retarded person, a cat does alot of things on his own.
4. Cats, no matter what you do, will always believe that THEY are in charge, they are the boss in the house, while dogs will surrender to their master...
5. People say "nice doggie" to dogs who do something good, people say "nice kitty" when the cats haven't done anything bad yet, ergo people knows that cat are evil creatures, and are happy and reward simply not doing evil deeds.

This is just some over the top opinions, however if you disagree you are still totally wrong.

Seriously? NOT being a cat person would be a major turn-off for most girls I know.

I love cats, but all the ones I owned were evil bastards. My latest cat the other day stripped all the feathers off a pigdeon, but left it to die. Then broke the jaw and kneck of a grass snake, which are really rare in this part of england. But didn't kill it. Then she caught a black rat, which are only found near the coast where I live, and I'm no-where near a port or beach, so how she got it is unknown to me. She did eat it, but rats are the only thing she does eat.

And this was in one day. I hate having to put animals out of their misery just because of her

Look at it like natural selection.

1. Cats are awesome.
2. As such all men will eventually grow to like cats.
3. Women who find it a turn-off when men like cat will be unable to find men and thus reproduce.
4. Their vile cat-hating genes will eventually be removed from the human gene pool.
5. The human race will be all the better and cat-loving for it.

I've never thought so. I'm more of a dog person but if my boyfriend liked cats more I wouldn't mind.
