I am shocked to see how many say "Yes". But it's their opinion.

But here is my opinion; It doesn't matter. Elitist on both sides should be outright ignored and excluded. I honestly feel that elitist spend more time arguing which platform is better for gaming rather than actually gaming. Who cares about PC or console? Just have fun while your gaming. Yes, I admit, I had fun playing MW2 on Xbox 360. I had fun playing Killzone 3 on PS3. And I had fun playing Crysis 2 on the PC. Yes, there were differences, but I didn't care. I was having fun. Seriously, people need to stop being such kids and grow up.

In my experience, people who play console games only are very likely to latch on to their respective console and defend it to the death. It's as if some of you truly believe that it is some magical machine that improves as games improve. It doesn't.

Recently I've seen a good number of threads where console gamers are acting like a victim of some PC gamer hate machine, but the only time I've seen any PC gamers talking about it, it usually goes like this...

PC Gamer said:
You should get that for PC. It looks way better and there are mods.
Console Gamer said:
I dunno. It looks just as good on Xbox as far as I can tell.
PC Gamer said:
The Xbox is outdated and can only run the game on very low settings.
Console Gamer said:
Whatever. You just spent all this money on a gaming rig and now you feel like you have to defend your console. Why are you PC elitists always trying to to pick on us console players?"
Next time you feel like someone is being a PC elitist, at least try to consider that the PC gamer might just be right.

How's this for a 10-paragraph essay: You are a massive **** and I feel sorry for anyone who has the misfortune of interacting with you.

Also, you like a console? That's cool.
Dude you may want to edit that post before a mod sees it.

I dunno if nobody told you but it is VERY easy to get banned here.

Until the day comes where all games are released on all gaming platforms there will be many many elitists, the only people that aren't elitists are those that use every platform. And don't say you're not an elitist because you know deep down that just like the rest of us you want those other annoying platforms that you don't use to disappear so all games are available to you on the gaming platform(s) you chose to buy.

It's probably normally in good fun but I see a lot of people saying "PC master gaming race reporting in". I hate it even more when people don't want a game to get released on consoles because it will ruin the game.

I consider anyone who limits themselves to only one platform as inferior. If you play almost exclusively on a console I will laugh at you, just as I would if you were clumsy with a controller. I do favour the PC, but console gaming is entertaining in its own right and you can't quite mimic the experience.

I knew this would come in handy at some point :p

upgrading is not that easy
it varies depending on how you do it
for the upgrade im busy with i need a new psu a new box and a new graphics card that alone is gonna cost me atleast 300 euro's
luckily the box comes with 3 built in fans
but luckily the old dell i am using now came with a quad core 2.66ghz i5 and a motherboard compatible with my new graphics card.
which i hope will last me till after summer when i can get a job.
but my i5 wont last long that is why im also saving up for replacing my motherboard and my processor.
so even after a year i will only be half way for my upgrade
in the summer im gonna work and get enough money to upgrade
my motherboard and my processor and get another graphics card.
And here is the shitty part im really clumsy and i dont have a steady hand so i will get the shop where i get the parts to assemble it.

but i wont lie there is an odd satisfaction in checking another item of the list with upgrading your pc.
working hard for something makes it all the sweeter.
hell im gonna call my pc lilly.

(im 14 btw)

Console players bashing PC users for elitism... That is like the mouse mouthing off to the lion. Before the mouse goes back to Qu1cKSc0p1nG and playing competitive TDM.

Poll is wrong, looks like 300 people missed the yes button.
Nope, it just proves that 130 people are snobbish jerks.

Clearly you are new here.

A few weeks on the Escapist will answer your question.
Ninja'd. This site has a majority of PC gamers (in terms of userbase). So the elitism does crop up around here frequently.
Too be fair, though, most of the time people are saying things jokingly.

OT: Of course Elitists exist, that's obvious. It's just a case of a loud minority vs everyone else.

I agree not everyone can learn it, but it's not really that complicated as it seems.
So if you want to build your own pc and need some advice, you can just ask me, i will help.
And btw. Seriously get rid of Vista, just get rid of it!
Is there anything I should look for when looking for when it comes to dealing with large video files and their transfer/editing/compiling?

I have a new HD camcorder and there's less than 10gb space left on my hard drive. Im gonna have to do some clearing to survive. I've been using pinnacle videospin for editing videos and whilst it faired me surprisingly well, im overdue an upgrade. Most good editing software wants higher min specs than my 55 month old vista.

Vista isn't the worst OS ever. I had to endure 3 years of millenium edition and when people call vista terrible I feel its harsh.
Also is it just me or is vista awkward as all hell when it comes to audio capture?
When you want to edit video files, it's always best, if you have multiple hard drives. The files you want to edit should be on an different drive than the editing software, then it should work faster.
I think a good ram i important, too, but i am not that much into video/audio editing and am not an expert there.
What i just know about vista is, that it makes most computers much slower, than they have to be.

Just have to make a statement as a designer:

Consoles doesn't have "worse" controls. To create a functional control system with a hand controller is much harder that mouse and keyboard. Just saying it's "worse" is just not enough.

I prefer PC gaming, but that since I work a lot on my PC, and because I'm RTS/RTT gamer, and those game just do not really work on consoles.

The argument about power in the system is for me sort of irrelevant, since my favorite game of all times doesn't require that much power (Bastion).

Well, the only way I see a console as an inferior platform is the lack of mod support, lack of mouse and keyboard, lack of hardware upgrades, can't use it for programming, lack of text editors, spreadsheets and other basic office software, lack of any creative software like photoshop or 3DS MAX.
Basically, it's an expensive digital wristwatch which allows you to play videogames, without the ability to wear it on your wrist.

That said, I still play both on PC and on consoles.
Because some games are just more fun to play with a controller than with mouse and keyboard.
That said, I recently got a controller for my PC.

So... PC has mouse and keyboard as well controllers.
And console only has controllers.

In other words. PC gives me a lot more freedom.

Am I alone in knowing not a single gamer who has a console, but not a PC?

But seriously: Of course neither choice is better for gaming. And neither choice makes you a "better gamer". The notion of that itself is just ridiculous. We play to amuse ourselves, not others. How can one be superior at that?

Plus, it all depends on the kinds of games you yourself wish to play. Being elitist about that, well, I can see people doing that - wargamers raising an eyebrow about "dumbed-down" games like CivRev, roleplayers preferring in-depth, old-school experiences like Baldur's Gate to new, streamlined games or just appreciating the tabletop-like freedom Neverwinter Nights gives them, or strategy gamers like me who just can't imagine complex games like Victoria 2 or Europa Universalis on console controls.

But in the end, there's no reason to be elitist about anything. I'm sure it works the other way around as well: PS3 owners loving their exclusives, XBOX Owners who just can't imagine playing sports games on a keyboard and so forth. In the end, all systems have their advantages.
