I know what sexuality I am for starters. What part of me do you want to "prove"? The fact that gender and sex aren't black and white? The fact that sexual attraction isn't black and white?

How bout your side "proves" your stance for once? Cause the only thing I'm "proving" is a better understanding of terms that most of you only know the textbook definition of.

The hardest part about being Bi is that you are neither gay nor straight (American Societies two standard options)... In theory you'd think this would be the perfect option for all-inclusiveness but in practice it tends to be more isolating. While you get to share somethings with all groups you also guarantee that you will not fully agree with either main group.

Not that I would change myself if I could as personally I couldn't see any other option in life but... it's strange to be viewed as an outsider in both camps.

Yep this pretty much sums up everything I feel about being bi. For the most part its nice but its not without its share of problems.

You got it backwards, bisexual is the normal term and pansexual/omnisexual are dumb overly inclusive labels.

Bisexuals are attracted distinctly to two genders (usually to feminine characteristics and to masculine characteristics, but exceptions exist). Pans are attracted regardless of gender characteristics, or to a broad range approximately equally. There is indeed a difference.

Frankly I'm arguing the point from a fairly objective point of view, as I personally don't recognise more than two genders at all and thus do not really recognise panromantics. Nonetheless, some people choose to identify as such so it's worth mentioning.

Although, getting totally focused on one part of the word instead of the actual definition isn't a particularly good position. Words have more meaning than the parts that make them up, but your gonna tell me you don't see it that way either.

Actually, I think it would depend on what the bi refereed to, and how you define your genders. Most transexuals work to be recognized as their new or chosen gender, so many bisexuals simply recognize them as such, meaning that you're still working with only two genders (just a wider perception of them).

I know I'm bisexual. I know I've been aroused by members of both sexes. No study claiming otherwise is going to tell me I don't damn well exist. If it does, it's wrong.

And I don't identify myself as pansexual for various political reasons of my own.

Lastly, you are way overstepping yourself on this thread claiming bisexuality doesn't exist, period. You linked to research done on MEN. What makes you think women's arousal patterns are exactly the same as men's?

Binary transsexuals fit into the binary fine, but you're still ignoring everybody else.

Of course, then you get into tricky little sub-questions about what does and doesn't count as a gender, but either way, limiting to two just because they're the most common ones and the majority of humans are of one of two sexes seems a bit arbitrary.

I'm a heterosexual male. I am honestly baffled that people find males sexually attractive. I don't begrudge this position of course and I certainly use it to my advantage but any time someone says "sure I'll sleep with you" I'm excited simply because the odds against anyone finding my gender attractive (much less me specifically) seem so astronomical. It's like winning the lottery.

I don't feel I understand your position then. But I welcome the chance to view something from a different position. Can you explain it further?

Cause the place I am coming from doesn't see 2 separate genders, only sexes. To elaborate, masculinity and femininity are 2 parts of the same whole as everyone has a bit of both in varying degrees. That is gender. A persons physical sex is generally one or the other, but not always. See transsexual/hermaphrodite/whatever. Bisexual means you are attracted to either gender. It means you can experience sexual arousal for men or women or whoever. It doesn't mean you like them both equally. It doesn't exclude anything.

Bisexuality encompasses sexual or romantic attraction to all gender identities.-taken from the Wikipedia page. That is the definition.

Interesting. I've been wondering about that ever since that "all women are pansexual" thing came out and people started throwing it around everywhere as evidence that women's sexuality must be more fluid than men's. (They found that their blood flow measurements responded to women viewing sexual activity of any kind, including nonhuman activity, and went "hey, women are aroused by EVERYTHING!" Or maybe you're measuring an unrelated physiological response to sexual activity in genreal, morons?)
