One of them in particular really disliked me I believe, but I hold no grudge. He was seemingly nice to people he befriended, but to me .. it was sort of harsh lol. I don't exactly remember his name but it had Raptor in it and the Avatar was of a disturbed but smiling guy. If I actually saw him on again or on another site, I wouldn't mind saying hello and catch up if possible.

Okay, first of all OF COURSE staff have special exceptions made. If we were banned from the site, how would it be run? It is our job to work here, and therefore it would be logically impossible to do said job and ban ourselves at the same time.

Note: That doesn't mean that we don't make it an in house policy to strictly adhere to forum rules ourselves. We do try our best to follow every rule. Additionally, in the case of staff or content providers, conduct problems are addressed in ways that are not visible on the forums themselves.

Second point, we don't make exceptions for publisher's club members. If there's a post that you feel deserves more attention then you need to make someone aware. Don't assume that because something has gone unnoticed that we're consenting to it. The moderators are volunteers, and they simply can't be everywhere at once.

I figured that since it was a Kross joke thread and you--the Escapist Community Manager--were calling the Escapist Server Administrator--rather than a Poster--by the "T" word it fell within unwritten guideline acceptability.

Usually I'd think "Oh well, it's their own fault" but I myself have recieved a Mod warning before. Granted I was being kind of an ass on that occasion, but 99% of the time I really do just want to banter with no malicious intentions.
I guess my point is...we all have bad days. Some of us just can't hold it in. So, yeah, I'll remember them!

I've been around though not consistently posting for awhile and many of the names being brought up are unfamiliar to me some people like MaxtheReaper[footnote]actually I think he was the only one[/footnote] I do remember seeing back in the day before the banhammer struck them...others like Furburt and Hubilub sound familiar but I can't say for sure if I ever remembered their posts or even posted in their threads. I do wonder though if I ever get banned who if anyone will remember me even if only for a second in a thread like this one that will inevitably pop up in about another year or so

And when you look at the stuff that got them banned I cant help but wonder how I haven't received so much as a warning even though some of my post have skirted on the edge of it. Maybe my avatar scares the mods away.

I remember @Wolverine18 getting banned for having multiple accounts and abusing the Health Bar Rules. The funny thing about that was that @Wolverine18 --who I first encountered in R&P--ended up banned because he forgot which of his accounts he was using and responded to The Iron Ruler using a different account in a direct manner: "Like I said earlier".

That's...well. The word 'pratfall' comes to mind. But I remember that he had some interesting things to say.

Edit: What about Katatori-kun? I remember he posted a thread about leaving the Escaptist. Has anyone heard about him?

Ehh, I remember a couple or three, for various reasons.

I remember Necroswanson who seemed like a normal internet guy, but he made an angry post too many. I remember NoMoreSanity, who was a decent guy when I spoke to him but probably deserved his banning. I remember MaxtheReaper, forum celebrity of a couple years back. I remember Furburt, now running his own forum with Hubilub. I remember Indigo_Dingo, mostly because of his 10000 post review of the Escapist. I remember Darth Mobius and Darth Empyrean, a forum couple. I remember Zeeky Santos and Fish Food Carl and Lord Cuthberton and RAKtheUndead and Richard Groovy Pants and Sean Hollyman and Swollen Goat and WanderFreak and Mathew94 and Avykins and IdealistCommi (who became Rocket Dog) and Demented Teddy and Pararaptor. I remember Mortai Gravesend.

I mean, you stick around for a while, you tend to remember the people who make a name for themselves by getting themselves banned, as well as those who simply gravitate away.

I don't remember why they were banned and I don't glorify them either - many were banned for good reasons. I simply remember they existed.

Furburt and Hubilub, holy shit that was a while ago, I remember them being like the top-tier guys. Those were the days...

The mods on the escapist don't enforce the actual rules, they enforce their own opinions and people seem to get banned for abstract, often completely random things. I have been here since late 2008 and I don't think I have ever clicked on a post someone was perma-banned for and thought a full ban was justified. I know that it may be a case of warnings piling up or last chance, but most of the time even the warnings are for ridiculous things. And a lot of the mods don't seem to understand that actual difference between 'advertising' and posting an interesting link from another site.

Posting a link as a source is fine. Posting a link and going "hey guys, check this out!" is advertising. Your posts and threads should be based on your thoughts and information. If you only share a link, we're gonna give you a warning for low-content and/or advertising.
