Well shit, my mistake. How could I have possibly been so stupid as to make the typo of putting in an "s". They ought to kill me, too! /sarcasm.

None of that changes in the slightest the fact of you coming in and claiming that everyone other than you is too stupid to grasp the subtle concepts of eating with a fork. This thread is for honest opinions of a current issue, not for coming in here and telling everyone else they're stupid, they're liars and whatever else you keep saying. If you don't feel like that, then please leave, we can get along fine without your shining influence.

I don't appreciate people with no common sense finding a story and posting it online without vetting it and then getting pissy when someone tries to explain it. You mis-stated what you were told and didn't even think it through before posting it, a moment's critical thought would have given you your answers but you got too caught up in feeling outraged to really think this through. I'm not being an ass, I'm trying to help you understand your mistake.

It's obvious you posted this looking for a 'lolrepublican' response but it would have helped if you'd have presented this as what it is. You obviously have no idea what you're talking about and don't think that being the OP and presenting a case as morally right makes you immune to being called out.

It's one person who's well known for being outspoken on this subject.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bobby_Franklin

He has absolutely no political clout and a bill promoted by him is worse than a joke. It's not going to happen but your video doesn't mention that even in the Republican party he's seen as unpalateably opinionated. The whole implication of your post and the video was that this was a legally endorsed attack upon women's rights by the state of Georgia rather than a known firebrand's ranting.
At what point did I say anything to the contrary?
I said three things.
1. This bill is being proposed
2. The guy's from Georgia
3. What the bill is

I posted the link and asked for people's opinions. I tried to have a bit of fun with the poll. I gave no personal opinion (well, again, I may have been slightly overzealous with the poll).

I didn't say anything about the person proposing it, true, but it has no bearing on my simple topic of the fact that this exists, and that someone would legitimately bring it up.

You, however, feel the need to do nothing here but come in here, directly call me a liar and try to raise a shitstorm. I have no idea why you'd do any of this except to troll, and you don't seem the type. I then asked you to kindly leave if you had nothing but insults and attacks to contribute, but you keep coming back.

Again, if you have nothing valid (i.e. OTHER than personal attacks) to contribute, Please leave.
I read the OP's post and the three things that he did are exactly what he did. I think the guy giving you shit should be directing his criticisms a MSNBC because they are the ones trying to nail this insane bill on all of republicans rather than the one crazy fucker who proposed it.

They could just as well put the blame on the babies for committing suicide or something. Some people just go too far. Like the Libyan president, for instance.

That's fucking insane.
The law basically has it so a woman has to explicitly prove her miscarriage was the result of natural causes or God's work (fucking bible belt) or something. What the hell happened to being innocent until proven guilty. This law basically overturn one of the basic tenents of our legal system.

Georgia... Already kind-of a backwards state. I mean, I can't buy booze on Sunday? How in the hell?

... A lot of topics dealing with religion and or politics in off-topic today!

They can't pass a law like this simply due to the number of women who will vote against it. There is probably no need to worry.

First of all its Georgia, buncha hicks. I have been there, they ban alcohol sales on sunday cause its "the lords day". So they are all stupid. Secondly you can't hold a woman responsible cause typically a miscarriage is not planned. Fourth, they are a buncha republican/christians trying to get around the fact that abortion is legal. And finally if the woman did want to "force" a miscarriage, all she would have to do is get an abortion, which is still legal =P
Where's your third...? 1, 2, 4? Oh, and by the way. I'm a republican, but I'm not a narrow minded idiot.

OT: I err... what? How is that even sensible?

Sociopaths responsible for killing several people get put in jail. Mothers who have miscarriages (which may not be their fault) are killed. Makes sense to me.

Irresponibilty leading to the death of a child? Sure, that should be punished. But even the death penalty seems to take it too far.

What madness is this? Threatening to kill a woman if she doesn't manage to complete her pregnancy with no issues? I'm amazed, I didn't know there was an entire troll state.

Miscarridge is a natural thing.

Infact a fetus isn't even a fucking living thing.

It's a collection of misused genes, and cell's.
How is killing something that's not even alive be a crime?
That's like being shot for eating snow, cause it's not going to come round next year.

EDIT : A fucking death-penalization. How much crack did you smoke? Oh, and miscarridgment can easily scar someone with post stress traumatization, so why are you pushing them like this?
Infact, it can be traumatizing for someone straight and completley sane.
Geezus. World, why do you tolerate us as a species?

calm down, man. telling people not to judge hastily is not the same as calling everyone stupid.

But my main point is that people really need a checklist before they start bashing a law, something like:

1. Do I actually understand this law?
2. Am I living in a comic book? (seriously)
3. What is this law designed to do?
4. Is my source lying? (in this case incidentally it's 'yes'. Well, it's a lie by omission)
5. Do I actually have the political and legal knowledge I need?

Not meaning to be offensive but most people on here simply do not have the training to understand legal thought. That's evident by the fact that the OP doesn't get the difference between one guy proposing a badly worded law and a huge conspiracy to kill women.
bolded the important part there, so you (the OP) can stop accusing Generic Gamer of calling you a liar. you, the OP, are not the source. the source would be MSN. don't take things so personally, man. i can tell you matter-of-factly that Generic Gamer and i rarely see eye-to-eye on politics. but, i respect his ability to make his case calmly, rationally, and without resorting to personal attacks. maybe that'll give you some context for what he said.

OT: of course it's an insane law, even if it does apply only to miscarriage through drugs or alcohol. that's why it will never pass.

Sounds like the Bill won't be able to pass if it over turns Roe V Wade a supreme court decision.

The typical miscarriage rate is 20%, though it's theorized to be higher due to the number of people that likely miscarry before it becomes evident that they are even pregnant in the first place. Of that percentage, 20% are also likely to suffer recurring miscarriages.

So this is a bill that's meant to incriminate 20% of pregnant women in the U.S. that did nothing wrong?

Classy.

Hell no.

I find the death penalty idiotic anyway, but for having a miscarriage?

That's evil. Plain and simple. (And I don't tend to say things like that.)

That makes no scence, you can only be punished for an offence you commited though neglect(manslaughter) or though intent(murder). Most miscarrages are nether.

Tragedy becoming an offence is a sickening thought.
Driving drunk and getting people killed is also a tragedy, that still doesn't excuse the driver.

That said, I agree that this is bullshit.
I'd say it's more in line with a drunk driver crashing into you, your child dying, and then you going to jail, not the drunk driver.

I agree this is total complete and utter horse shit. If Georgia passed this law, I'd say we should demand they secede from the United States.

As always I'd like to see more information on this than this.
I've spent a lot of time trying to explain to people that the latest TV/newspaper report they've seen that says the UK has made it illegal to defend yourself or Australia has made it illegal to swear etc is a complete pile of crap and if you actually look at things in a bit more detail you'll see it's just a bullshit sensationalist story that misses out just enough info to make it look like something it's not.
