I have two moral scenarios that I was wondering about what you would do. This is not the normal train tracks scenario, but is different.

1)
Someone in your family has been murdered. You are brought into a room where the killer is tied up, and a handgun is given to you. If you shoot him, there will be no repercussions for you. The only repercussions will be the death of that person, and the sorrow of people who may care about them.

2)
The same scenario, except now, the person murdered somebody you have never met. Still, no repercussions to you, only their death and the sadness of their loved ones will result.

Would you pull the trigger in either of these scenarios?

I would in both.

note-

When I say "murdered", I mean in cold blood with no reason behind it.

I don't think I could give an honest answer as I don't think I'm capable of killing someone in cold blood regardless of what they've done. I don't think many people realise exactly how difficult it can be to simply end the life of another human being who isn't forcing you to choose between them or you.

That being said, if I watched someone kill my sister or father I would want them dead.

Summary, Honestly don't know. I'd like to think that I'm uncapable of murder.

Where is the choice 1 no 2 yes? Also the oh god this again option would be nice ;) .

I do not fit any of your options, if this kind fellow is going to prision and I am allowed to kill him without issue I would do the right think and shoot his shoulders and knees. Let him enjoy prison with a disability.

Sorry but murder for revenge is pointless, knowing you fucked some asshole up for the rest of his life in prison, priceless.

I have no problem killing people if there is a good cause, see murderer who is about to shoot innocent people. After the deed was done I am sure I would have to come to terms and such, but at least it served a purpose.

Sorry to mess up your thread, but I live in a grey zone.

Yes to both, not for the murder but just the pure rush and feeling of the person as they look down the barrel of the gun pointed at their fear stricken face.

Sorry, I am a messed up individual.

When you say "no repercussions to you", you mean of course besides the guilt of ending another person's life? Or did that not even occur to you?

No. It would serve no actual purpose and it would make me scarcely better than the killer.
Do you think that you would be on the same level, or worse than an executioner working for the state?

I feel like you would be the person who shoots the guy in the knee-caps so he will be crippled for the rest of their life.

Nah.

1st Scenario: I'd just pistol whip him a lot.

2nd Scenario: I'd just ignore him.

I always say something to the affect of

"Murderers don't deserve to live. Traitors don't deserve to die."

I would shoot in both scenarios.

No. Why turn into the same kind of person as the killer? Besides, better for him to rot in prison for years rather than get off so lightly as to be killed.

No, I wouldn't. Beat the ever loving crap out of him, maybe, but only if I had a mask on, and then I would call the police.

I couldn't take another human's life, at least a theoretical one. I voted no for both but knowing me I would kill the guy if he killed someone in my family. Now I wish I could undo my vote... grrr

just want to make this clear if i knew the guy killed a member of my family he would not die quickly. i would be willing to do my civic duty to kill the guy in number 2 if the guy was convicted and sent to death row other wise id be suspicous.
to summerise i could do numer 2 with the right reasons, and id pull and sin city on the guy who killed a member of my family(the whole the hell i send him to must look like heaven compared to what i just did to him)

I don't support the death penalty, so no.

How do you justify hating murder so much that you do it as well? That is the upmost form of hypocrisy.

Yes to both. Better to kill a murderer then let the murderer go so he can kill another innocent.
