If you do it rarely yeah and catch up on your work after. I always get really stressed and anxious after long periods at school and will skip school for a day to pull myself back together, always catch up on my work though.

as someone who's already been through the british education system i'm sure many people would agree with me
school basically counts for nothing
so long as you get the minimum to go on to higher education (which is patheticly low anyway) it never really catches you up
skip all you want
just make sure you get them 5 C's. and i'm pretty sure nobody in the history of GCSE exams has got less without either being dead or didn't actually do the exam itself

I think, if you want to skip school, do so by all means, but you are responsible for your own marks.

By the way, this also means schools should stop giving out detentions or punishments for kids who skip school. Anyone should have the freedom to skip school if they want to as long as they are responsible for getting their shit together (otherwise, well, they get shitty grades and fail their courses, and if that's what they want then I have no objections.)

... Cocaine?

Why would I take cocaine? I don't smoke, drink or do drugs anyway. I didn't mean "coke" as a slang for cocaine, I meant coca-cola, you know, sugar stuffed bad-for-you-but-tasty that most teens drink. :p
Look, I don't know what street aliases kids are giving to their drugs these days, but even if the police don't catch you with your "coca-cola", you can suffer some serious long-term health problems. I can see I'm probably not going to convince you to give up hard drugs, but remember, cocaine can be lethal if mixed with all of the ecstasy, heroine, and meth you are no-doubt abusing. ;)

I skip school on occasion, but only because my school has this program, in which we get to chose an extra class (for example: Spanish, Drama, Bilingual Sciences) and I got stuck in mother-fucking Italian, which is boring as hell (this program also doesn't go into my final gpa, which means as much as: "YOU CAN'T FAIL"!) So I go Wednesdays, the day we have the subject for 2 hours, and skip Thursdays, the day we have an extra period after school which the other classes don't have. Thereby easily fulfilling my mandatory 50% attendance. I have a D, which doesn't really bother me. I don't have enough time to learn 3 languages, so I spend most of the time I skip class studying for other classes.

Eh, I do it occasionally. My parents will even call in for me if my grades are high enough.

I usually just sit home and play video games, though. Nothing too awesome.

Hmm...

I never skipped school, me and my BF from school always say that we were too googy good in hugh school. BUT by not skipping we also developed good study habits, and self control. You need that for university.

so: if we skipped would we be in the awesome positions we are in now (both making around $75k)

nope. well... maybe not. maybe yes.

Point is: sometimes you gotta keep your eyes on the prize...

Occasional skipping is not a bad thing. Everyone needs time to cool off and sometimes it is better to skip school than risk any unfortunate events occuring.

As long as you are willing to face the consequences of your actions do whatever it is you wish to do.

I skipped quite a bit of school form 7th-9th grade, but that was during my angsty phase.
I haven't skipped much since then... except last fall, I skipped quite a few English classes, but only because there were these supercool philosophy lectures at the same time, and I'm really, really good at English so I wasn't missing anything. At least that's how I justify it... oh, and I skipped a science class because I had to stop a friend from killing herself, but I think that's kind of justified too.

I dont know. I skipped (well, not skipped, more like walked out in the middle of the day) school plenty of times when i went to school. BUt I was always ahead on stuff and had somewhere to go (like work) when I did, or just didnt feel good. Or i just wanted to get out of that building.

BUt I wouldnt say its good and oka to do it. I think its circumstancial. I chose other because it was while it shouldnt be as big a deal if you can handle it, its not a good habit to get into. I might walk out of school once or twice a month, but I never did it more then four times unless i had an emergency.

So, Other - Depends upon individual's ability to have the work already done and that they wont need anything for the next class.

Unless its the last day. I turn everything in the week before the last day (since teachers I had never liked to give stuff out on the last week of school and the only one that did received a fury of hellfire from her students) so i dont have to be in school the entire last week if I decide. Wats truancy going to do? Hold my diploma from me?

Either you're trolling, or you're the biggest dweeb this side of Star Trek.

Coca-cola is a soft drink, soda, pop, whatever you want to call it, and you're a dumbfuck - it had cocaine in it at one point in time, but there has been no cocaine in coca-cola for over 60 years now.
You seriously don't get that?

Only if you have a good reason. I've taken one or two health days myself, only because I genuinely needed them.

Dont think I ever skipped school once, would lying throguh my teeth count? Yes I'm sick all right *cough* hear that? Nasty isnt it, guess I should stay in bed then (and catch up on some sleep).

Even in 6th year when there was nothing going on I felt guilty leaving school early, I just didnt do it as its a bad habit to get into.

I skipped school during innumerable hours of my high school education, and got all the grades and social interraction I wanted anyway. Why strive for 100% attendance when you have nothing to gain?

Go for it, its only your education you impact, if you don't want to go you'll most likely not learn anything anyway and probably negatively affect other's learning, so if you really don't want to go then, don't.
I've never had any negative experiences with it, always turned into good days and alot of fun with mates.
However, having said that, don't pressure someone else to do it if they don't want to, its fine for you to behave as you will when it impacts your education, not someone else's.
I'm just going to quote this because you said exactly what I was going to say. Thanks for saving me the typing :D.

Please tell me you are going to your English classes though.

OT: The only class I skip is Japanese, because the college curriculum is the exact same one that I had at my high school. I thought it would go faster and that halfway through the semester I would learn new things, but it's actually slower than high school and I wished I tested out of it.
