Hey guys, I was wondering if y'all are playing the game in 1st or 3rd person. While Oblivion and Morrowind had a notoriously crappy 3rd person camera, they talked a lot about the camera this time around, saying that you could play the whole game in 3rd person.

I've tried the camera, and I like that you can adjust it to whatever distance you want, but it still feels awkward to fight or interact with objects. I do use it occasionally when I'm roaming the countryside though, but it just doesn't feel right to me. I was honestly hoping for a more natural, over-the-shoulder feel as an option, kind of like RE4.
Wait, you can change the distance of the camera? Please teach me oh master.

On topic. 1st person for everything combat and 3rd person when I need to quickly see a wider area. (Or admire my pretty and armored cat-wolf-man.)

Haven't played Skyrim and I don't plan too, but if it's anything like Oblivion(Which i Hated) I'd probably use the first person while wishing the third person view didn't suck

I'm mostly in first person, but I like 3rd person as well. What's interesting though, I actually enjoyed 3rd person view in Morrowind. I used it all the time actually. But I was a kid, what did I know.

On xbox, hold in R3, then move with the Left stick. You're welcome. ^_^

Same as Fallout and Oblivion.

Third for melee and traveling. First for ranged combat and looting.

Honestly can't see how anyone can loot properly in third person.

Definitely a third person player. Just don't feel comfy playing in first, never have (except when playing Doom oddly enough).

While the beheading attacks look far cooler in 3rd, I prefer first. It just feels more precise. Third person feels like im riding on my character's shoulder rather than being the character.

Playing on the Ps3, I often find myself accidentally hitting the 3rd person button by accident during combat, frustrating when I dont expct it.

I was reading that and in my mind it said, "I don't often fight in first person, but when I do I kill dragons," or something similar.
I don't always use the third person camera, but when I do I look like a badass.

OT: 1st person mostly, although occasionally this ^

When simply travelling, 3rd, I like how my High Elfess Mage looks. When battling, first, as there is nothing more satisfying than watching you enemies fall before the power at your fingertips.

Almost always in first person, switching to third only to inspect my gear. Third person view kinda kills immersion for me...

Almost always first, I'll switch when I have a new cool armor/clothing set to check it out, but I will soon switch back.

Pretty much all third person. For a while I was switching back and forth, but I think I just prefer third. I played all of Oblivion in first, but with Fallout 3 and NV, I just started to prefer third.

I love walking around in third person and looking at my badass battlemage gear but combat (especially spellcasting with any degree of accuracy) is floaty. Generally, if I'm walking around, I'm usually in third but if I have to shoot something, I switch to first.

I play first-person through a lot of dialogue and gameplay, but I switch to third-person when I'm walking beside someone or in a really hardcore story scene.

Would have been nice if they made it so your character's animations were a little nicer to look at in third-person. For example, an animation for turning rather than your character snapping to his new position, or having him look towards the person talking to him rather than just stare blankly into space all the time.

If they fixed those two things I'd probably spend a LOT more time in third-person view.

Only third-person pretty much.
It's kinda weird, considering I played Oblivion in first person mostly but third person gameplay feels better somehow.

I play in first person, but I go into third person to look at my beautiful sexy face fuck-ugly face.

And to look at what clothes/armor looks like on my character.

And with this news I decide that I am going to try & avoid being a werewolf.

1st person, unfortunately when being a werewolf you are always in 3rd person. So yeah, I play 1st person until the game requires me to be 3rd person.

Fact.

Its unfortunate that some of the better armors look so out of place. Don't get me wrong, they look good, but not very nordic.
