I know who they are and where they of them live (most of them anyway). That's about it, I'm not exactly the most sociable person and they leave me well enough alone. Don't see much of them.

I had a pair of lesbian neighbors once. They got me a Rolex one Christmas. I don't really think they got what I meant when I said I wanted to watch.

Everyone living on my road are students renting houses. We know most of them, they're all pretty similar ages to us. As neighbours go I suppose we're pretty close, but it's not an ordinary community.

When I was a kid yes, I used to know them really well.

Now? The house to my right is owned by some old couple I met once, and I don't see either of them much since I'm always working. And the house to my left, nope. That house has been owned by so many people that I've lost track. For a while it was just sitting there collecting weeds, and now I think it's owned by someone my age and his girlfriend.

At this point I don't really care to know either of them.

A few. My next-door neighbors are actually gay, but they're really nice.
Are you implying that gay people aren't usually nice? D:

My family has lived in this section of swampy Michigan for over a hundred years. Its on a small hill like plateau, so we look over our small town and think its a little bit of a status raise. Were just middle class peons though, and the surburbs they keep building on our small road are beginning to piss us all off.

My neighbors wonder why i clean my guns in a wide open garage, so when shtf they wont come near me. Also scares off possible shady walker intruders.

Nope. I'm implying that they're some of the nicest, kindest people I've ever met.

Sorry. It was badly worded.

Considering that I live in the middle of nowhere and the only other people within 2 miles of me are a couple of farmers, yes, I do know everyone!

I live in a small town so everybody knows everyone. I know people two blocks from my house. That is how small a town I live in.

I've been in this apartment for a year now and never seen another tenant.

However, when I go to my moms, their neighbors are always over. Friendly, and generally good people.

I figured that, I just like poking fun at grammatical ambiguities.

i met my neighbor once...

i hate him
he's the garden-obsessive, "make the neighborhood look good" type. so one day i'm sleeping in and he wheels our bins back up behind the house. another day i forgot to pick up the papers and he put them all behind the house...

small things... annoying things... things that make me want to SALT THE EARTH AROUND HIS HOUSE!

i hate most of my neighbors, but why is the lesbian part relevant?:s
Are you saying you'd have clicked on a thread named "Do you know your neighbours"? The guy knows how to get attention.

On topic I only know them well enough to know there's not much interesting about them. I don't mind them but I don't particularly feel the need to be friendly.

The only thing I know is that my neighbours made a noise complaint about me. During a week when we were on holiday in another city. Fuckwits.

And I was wondering, how well does the Escapist tend to know their neighbors?

I've lived in two rather different neighborhoods (in the same town). In my old neighborhood, pretty much everyone knew who everyone was, how many kids they had, etc. Neighborhood kids would play together, and the parents felt comfortable enough with each other to let us all be supervised by one person's parents at a time (this was also when I was younger). One of my friend's from high school actually used to have regular block parties in their neighborhood.
God I miss knowing almost all my neighbours. Yeah almost all the kids on the block were guys but I will be damned if I didn't have a blast growing up. Most of the people on my block have moved. I still know quite a bit of the people on the block but tis not like it use to be. The family that I guess held us together well after they moved neighbours stopped talking to each other. And their son was and still is my best friend. His mum died a year or two ago and that was the first time almost everyone on the block had been back together and talking in like 6 ish or 7 ish years. I miss knowing my neighbours. Oh and block parties were held a street over and everyone on the surrounding streets were invited.
