Alright, I know this has been done to death already, but I'm putting a little spin on it and I'm using it to settle an argument between my friends. Ignoring powers and stuff like that, who do you think has the better character. This includes personality, backstory, and relationships. Please post why you think what you do as well. Thanks.
Read the comic.
EDIT: Its pretty freaking awesome.

Batman, because Superman is just too perfect. Batman has the flaws that make him human.
Superman has lots of flaws, but the biggest one of all, which is the one everyone thinks he is not a good super hero, is the reason why he is. He has morals and ethics, something that Batman would drop if he could get his man. Superman is moral and just all the time, tell me if you think it's easy to be moral and just all the time? Ever littered or heard that someone did something wrong and you didn't do anything about it. Superman hasn't and that's why he is better. He always makes the decision that does not kill anyone. That's admirable wussy. Batman just gets more votes cause everyone wants to be him, where Superman fans want to be like him. Too many haters.
Also Superman should get a sympathy vote cause he can potential never be with a women either.

Superman called Batman the most dangerous man he knew. That's enough for me to vote for Batman, even Superman is afraid of him.

Besides, most of those "flaws" were shoehorned into Superman way down the line, Batman started with them.

Ive read a comic or two.. not enough to call my self a true comic book reader but from cartoons films and so on i'd choose batman every time hes more complex with a true back story unlike superman who is just 2D in my mind. (although the smallville series is helping to develop superman)

We all know it's Batman, he kicks Superman's arse even when he doesn't pull out Kryptonite on him. Frankly the only two people who get Batman are Bane ("get" may be an understatement if you've read the story) and Judge Dredd. Judge Joker!

Superman gets his power from the sun.
Batman gets the power from years of pushing himself to become a better person.
Therefore Batman wins.

Bonus points: Batman plays a good anti-hero and he actually beat up Superman.

Batman.

Traumatised rich kid doing good (as long as you don't piss him off too much) generally makes a better rounded character than the traumatised God from space...

Batman also makes for a more human character (well duh), he has flaws and weaknesses, as opposed to being an unstoppable Gary Stu.

Who has better villains? Batman!
So Batman wins!
Ain't that the truth. Batman gets The Joker and Superman gets a bald, evil version of Bruce Wayne without the Batman costume.

Batman by a mile.

Superman is nearly invincible, somewhat predictable and it's not very exciting to watch. Well the movies anyway. A show of Superman I used to watch was pretty good.

With Batman, on the other hand, anything can happen. The villains are much better, the action is cooler and it's very entertaining.

In a fight? Superman. Batman has no powers, just his money and acrobatics. Just like ironman has his brains.

Superman has a bit less depth to him, probably because he's a totally different race than humans (He LOOKS the same)

You missed out on the fact that Batman has everything in his belt, so no one can beat him because he is bound to have their weakness in one of those compartments.

(Batman does carry around kryptonite at all times)

He did after superman went nutso with red kryptonite, I believe. After that, I would imagine Batman keeps some just in case.
actually Batman had a way to defeat every member of the JLA, hence why they kicked him out for a bit

he's always known about Superman's weakness, that's part of his character is knowing how to defeat everyone cause he's just a human

Batman, a man with NO superpowers, has beaten superman again and again, even in alternate universes (see red son) Batman has been able to defeat superman, the worlds greatest detective shows that normal guys can do anything and beat the big headed douches
he didn't defeat Superman in Red Son, that was Lex that did it, the Batman in that one just ran interference a lot

Two words: super speed. Superman's comparable to the Flash. Sometimes favorably.

So long as Superman lands a diamond shattering first punch, Batman's dead. No matter how many green rocks he's got safely stowed away in his utility belt, they don't help if he can't get to them in time. It all comes down to who gets the drop on who.

It wouldn't be easy for Batman to do. Doesn't Superman also have super hearing?

Superman is only vulnerable to two things besides Kryptonite (and other yellow sun blocking things): mind control (which he's still fairly resistant to) and magic.
Supes entrusts Batman with Kryptonite because he's the only person on the planet who can defeat him.
They have had a few showdowns in comic about it and Bats has won every time.

In theory yeah, Batman can't hold a candle to Supes, but in the comics he wins.
