Alright, guys, here's where it goes down. Many an elementary school debate has raged over this very subject: what is the starter Pokemon that will eventually lead you to unstoppable-dictator-with-a-chainsaw status?
Of course, I only include Generation One because everyone knows that there were only three Pokemon games.
My personal favorite would have to be Squirtle, as he evolves into Blastoise, who would easily come barreling through your kitchen wall, break your dining-room table in half with his forehead, impale your mother with the sheer force of his water cannons, beat your father to a bloody pulp by simply looking at him, and then calmly let you climb on top of him and ride atop his shell to the Seafoam Islands.

I choose Squirtle. I love the water element, I think he looks just totally F*cking awesome as Blastoise, and I like a *balance* of being powerful and difficulty. Also, I love Squirtle's personality in the show, with the sahdes and everything
If you like a challenge, charmander.
If you like godmode, Bulbasaur.
Charmander is at a disadvantage against both beginning trainers. By the third trainer, you are no longer dependent on your begginer pokemon, and you have enough pokemon to win gym battles without them. Squirtle has an advantage against the first one, but not the second. bulbasaur has an advantage against the first two trainers.
Charmander is hard mode, Bulbasaur is easy mode, and Squirtle is average difficulty.
I like Squirtle for his average level of difficulty, his graphics,(Blastoise is F*cking awesome!!) and his personality
