Poll: The Best Starter Pokemon

I always like whichever starters make the game the hardest. So it goes, Charmander, Chikorita and Torchic for me.

I used torchic in ruby and found that it was by no means difficult. As it evolves it becomes partly fighting which enhances it's effectiveness significantly.

Fair enough. I chose Treeko as my starter, but I couldn't remember the order of the gyms in that game. I KNOW Mudkip makes the game easy. I would imagine Treeko would make things easy as well. I don't remember. I guess all 3 starters can own the first gym. Which is just stupid. Your starter is really only important in the first few gyms, before you open up more Pokemon types. There NEEDS to be a "make the game harder at first so you learn to properly play" starter in all the Pokemon games. I'm not sure Ruby/Sapphire has one.

I just prefer Blaziken because he owns. I bred like 3 of them and trained 'em with different moves. But my favorite Pokemon in Ruby is Vigoroth. I have about 3 or 4 different ones with different move sets (obviously). Slack Off is awesome.

As a STARTER pokemon, it's gotta be Bulbasaur. He is effective against the two first gyms.

Bulbasaur. I don't know why, but a thing with a plant on its back seemed pretty awesome... and it was!

Although, I do think that this is a tough contest because the starters from the 1st Series were, in my opinion, the best.

Cyndaquil... Because you cannot deny that an adorable flaming hedgehog that evolves into an adorable, badass badger that can turn itself into a rolling fireball is completely epic. Also, because Gen 2 is completely better than Gen 1 in almost every aspect.

What did I just say about Gen 2? There was no Gen 2.

cause he sucked against onyx and starmie and about 80 percent of the gyms. though charizard is cool

You can also use Butterfree for the first gym (Confusion rapes the weak special stats on Geodude and Onyx), and Bellsprout/Oddish for the second gym. Vine Whip and Absorb, respectively, are very very powerful against the water types in Misty's gym.

Charizard is the coolest and probably the most useful overall, even if Arcanine is statistically a better fire type. Venusaur has the best stats, but doesn't really learn any great moves in R/B/Y. Blastoise is outclassed in every single way by Cloyster, and to a lesser extent Slowbro and Starmie.

For me it's squirtle. The only thing that would of made him more awesome would be if he had his shades.

Alright, guys, here's where it goes down. Many an elementary school debate has raged over this very subject: what is the starter Pokemon that will eventually lead you to unstoppable-dictator-with-a-chainsaw status?

Of course, I only include Generation One because everyone knows that there were only three Pokemon games.

My personal favorite would have to be Squirtle, as he evolves into Blastoise, who would easily come barreling through your kitchen wall, break your dining-room table in half with his forehead, impale your mother with the sheer force of his water cannons, beat your father to a bloody pulp by simply looking at him, and then calmly let you climb on top of him and ride atop his shell to the Seafoam Islands.

I have to disagree, six games were made. As much as I loved the 1st generation games, the gold/silver/crystal games rocked my socks.

Charmander. I was 5 when I got the original Pokemon and I got the red version, so I automatically have to choose the giant Dragon on the front. Ahh, nostalgia.

That, and I always love to play the game using only one Pokemon to get to level 100, and I dominated with Charzard, especially on victory road, where I always lost with the other two.

Cyndaquil (typhlosion is just the best final form of the 3)

the best starter pokemon is jirashi there is a thing u can do when u starts the game that gives u jirashi in lv 10 whit blizzard, sher cold and fly but i promised the dude that helpd me to not tell how

But as for first gen Pokemon I allways pick Squirtle but Charmander is cool as well, just not as cool. I have never picked anything other than the water starter come to think of it.

he only sucked because wouldn't listen, (when i played the game i found out because he was too strong or something, cuz if the lvl is too high they dont listen)
