All of the above?

Though I did finish the Arena first.

Neither of those are options, though....

I got myself into the dark brotherhood by accident after some nosey farmer got all up in my business. Went to sleep, had a wtf moment when the assassin showed up and went on from there.

I kind of wish I didn't find it first though because every other guild and quest tree is downhill from the dark brotherhood.
This. The Dark Brotherhood just really can't be beat in quests. Whodunit? I mean, come on, that was pure gold. I was compelled to follow the storyline, almost as if this wasn't an open-ended game.

I also went vampire my first time 'round... and every other time after that. The acrobatics+ is lovely, and I'm too lazy to grind. ^.^

Edit: Wood Elf all the way, by the by.

I went male Breton and didn't mess with the main story at all. I remember specifically going to red ruby cave first wearing conjurers robes, getting demolished by wolves.

Meh, That what I did...except for the mods.

Now, I'm running around as a Nord and beating people to death with my fists.

I was a male dark elf
Joined the thieves guild to fence stuff, cleaned out the market district, then joined the Dark Brotherhood.

I headed to the capital. I got equipment and fought in the arena. Than went raiding dungeons and doing random quests. I was a Nord.

I chose an Imperial. I am a fighter, mage, and thief. My favorite guild is the thieves guild.

I was a female Breton, Apprentice, mage (As usual), and TECHNICALLY joined the Mages guild first, out of need. But I didn't advance any further in the quest line during my game, just as far as the Arcane University (Now I have that mod that lets you join straight away, and use it without the recommendations!)
But then I stole a fabulous hat, and found myself in the thieves guild, invisible most of the time. Funny, that.

Well, I joined all guilds but my first was mages. I finished their whole questline with practically no magic which was a laugh. I was a Dark Elf Rogue as always, the distribution of skills in that class is pretty much perfect for me.

Male Kahjit. Ended up being an assassin typpe build, with mastery over illusion, hand to hand, etc. My first guild was, of course, the Dark Brotherhood. Though, the first person I killed that was innocent, I didn't realize. I didn't even know the dark brotherhood existed, so when Lucien showed up I kinda freaked out. My second(and only uncompleted guild) was the mages guild. I got kicked out after I started making black soul gems though(and using mages as the material needed).
*sigh*
Well, what do you expect when you give me, Speaker of the black hand, a means to create a gem which instills unfathomable power to any weapon of your choosing(except, unfortunately, for gauntlets. They only get armor buffs...)

I don't remember what I was the first time, or anytime, really, but the first thing I always do is grab the fingleam, then start stealing stuff. It's actually become the second thing I do, now that I think about it. The first thing I do is go to the shivering isles and make some money. Lots and lots of money.

Breton Male, playing as my custom class Warmage. I needed access to spells immediatly, so Mages Guild it was.

Who else had a character that was Champion of Cyrodiil, Gray Fox, Fighters Guild Master, Archmage, and Listener?
I did. Maybe not the top ranks, but high up in each, and I have to say, it kinda broke the game for me. It was weird knowing that my guy was head of each one. I'd have rather they amplified the bonus's of each one, then had you choose between them.

Nothing was "broken" in terms of gameplay, but I see your point. In retrospect, it does seem odd when the respected Archmage breaks into your house at night to steal your vegetables and to sell your silverware to a Nord insomniac in a pub.
Or have him go around and murder people in his spare time and worship demonic beings. I can never have a single character anymore. I generally restrict certain ones to certain Guilds so I can keep the atmosphere and immersion a bit better.

I saw this thread and thought to myself... WOW, what a scarily normal thread.

Lol, can't say I have seen a lot of these lately.

Regardless...Fighter's guild. I didn't find the dark brotherhood until later. Although it's better to be a higher level when you join them anyway.

I was a human type bloke, at the time I figured a good character build would involve dumping all my points into ridiculous things like agility and luck.

As such I had a very bad experience with the game and now that I've grown more familiar with rpgs I've considered replaying it. I enjoyed it despite my idiotic character but I think people have gone a bit too gaga over the game.

I was an Argonian (I always am) I want straight across the river and mowed down some Bandits and FUCKING MUD CRABS was having fun, then I want to Kavatch, bad idea. It was not until later that my cousin told me NOT to do the main story line straight away so I restarted and joined the Fighters Guild.

The first thing I did was look for an immersive original first person role playing game experience. 120 hours in... I still didn't find it.
I joined every possible guild and still.. no such luck. Shan't be playing it again.

I was a male redguard and the first thing I did was kill an imperial guard because I didn't know any better. It was one of the few times in any game where I stood there and felt utterly lost, and the damn fine/punishment I suffered for my crime of passion didn't help.

Being jaded with organized society, I joined the Dark Brotherhood and slaughtered my way to the top. Ah, memories.

EDIT:

I did too and I felt it was pretty damn strange as well. I originally thought I'd have to choose carefully, but nope, I just ended up as the most famous/powerful/important non-king in the history of Cyrodil.
