They should have been doing this last year, back when their main competition was a pair of ancient hardware from 2006 and the 'next gen' was still months away.
They WERE doing it last year. They just severely underestimated how big an impact the jump from SD to HD has on their game development cycles. That's why these games are only coming out now rather than last year.

OT: I bought a Wii U a few months ago because they had a sweet Monster Hunter bundle, and while I hadn't got that much use out of it up until Mario Kart I never regretted my purchase. After Nintendo's presentation... in love.

Though I don't know why I'm telling you this. Nothing's going to change your exceptionally cynical opinion. Hell, I bet if they showed Wii U software that magically cures you from any disease when you turn on the console, you STILL wouldn't be impressed.
...Where'd you get that impression? The same source that told you cynicism is an inherently bad thing? I gave very clear reasons in my second post why only a few of the games displayed (several of which you brought up in defense despite my positive statements about them) caught my interest. And just for the record, the prospect of a new Star Fox does improve my estimation of the Wii U's future lineup; if they'd deigned to show us something from it, my appraisal of Nintendo's presentation would have been more enthusiastic. Perhaps if I walk away with an overall negative impression, then, it's because their presentation was genuinely underwhelming, not because I have some sort of prejudice against the console.

Fixed it for you.

So we can add 'underestimated time required for games' on top of the WiiU's other failings?

Oh my, that Hyrule Warriors trailer looks amazing. The again I'm a sucker for Dynasty Warriors games in general. Can't say I'm too interested in the rest beyond Mario Kart and Smash Brothers though, unless there's been any news on SMT x Fire Emblem.
I put that I wanted one in the poll but in the end it's going to be a toss up between a Wii U and a PS4 for me, if I ever even buy a current gen console.

I like Nintendo games (have since the nes) but it's got to get some more (interesting) third party support before I go in. Things like Bayonetta 2 or how the DS got GTA Chinatown Wars. Maybe they could get a Borderlands, a Fallout game, or (put that tablet to good use and) get a kickass RTS like a Dawn of War; some sort of franchise I'm interested in.
What's the point though?

Nintendo ported over a lot of third party games as launch titles for the Wii U, but they didn't improve sales.

Nintendo have always sold their consoles on first and second party merit. Their consoles rarely have much third party support, and if they do, the third party games never really sell very well.
The third party ports were generally gimped compared to their Xbox 360 and PS3 cousins. What they need is exclusive third party, not ports.

Id be lying if i said i wasnt pretty damn interested in a Wii U, and their are games i really want, Smash Bros, Wind Waker, Mario Kart 8, Zelda U but thats it. Until we get a proper Metroid title i doubt il be getting one or until they add ALOT more games on to it.

It also has to compete with the Xbox One fore which granted has only one exclysive game im interested in right now.... but Halo 2 multuplayer will be mine again!

I plan on getting a Wii U next year, as well as a PS4 and a new PC.

That being said, I haven't checked the Nintendo eShop in a while, but Nintendo needs to step up and perhaps redo some N64 or more NES titles. Those things probably won't sell very well though, as I imagine I'm one of perhaps ten people in the world that want to play Rescue: The Embassy Mission again. They have Xevious though. I'd buy that.

There's no "I was holding off for a larger library" Option?
I would've clicked that.
Since you're the second person I ended up scrubbing with that, I've added such an option to the poll.

I didn't vote, because my opinions are somewhat complex. No doubt Nintendo had a good showing this year and there were quite a few games I'd like to play (Zelda, Yoshi, Squid-game, Bayonetta). The problem is, as a gamer who enjoys both Nintendo traditional 'cute-asthetic' and more mature games, however many great games Nintendo show, I'm still aware that there will be many triple A games that won't be ported to it. However hard they work Nintendo are always going to have fewer titles that the rest of the industry combined. If they want me to buy a WiiU as my main gaming console (and I'm not sure they necessarily do, they are aiming at other demographics) then they need to do more work to reassure me that they have third-party support (which they didn't, probably because they don't). I would actually quite like to buy a Wii U, especially as I can play all the Wii games I missed on it, but is always going to be my second console, and at the moment I don't even have the funds to by my first next-gen console. It's a pity because I do love me some 2D platforming action , Kart racers and (occassionally) JRPGs.

Bayonetta 1 & 2 have sold it for me. I intend to trade in my Xbox 360 limited edition red to get the Wii U.

I suspect, that at some point, there may be other games I will get (not any Mario titles). But for now, I will be happy with those two games alone.

I got one on release day and my opinion remains the same. It's the console I use to play Zelda games, not much else to it

You're more than capable of defending yourself on the internet, but I agree, you and many of the others who "aren't on the Nintendo Hype Train" certainly have had entirely valid reasons for not doing so. While, in your case, I might also consider looking at some of the gameplay videos by people demonstrating them (particularly for Xenoblade Chronicles X), rather than just the trailers, I see no reason for you to not have the right to be not-hyped. By delivery or by base appeal, you just aren't too interested. Nothing wrong with that.

And I sure as heck would love to see a look at what Miyamoto's been cooking under the hood. Not just Starfox (though Starfox will be awesome), but his other 2 projects, too, since whenever Miyamoto does anything, it's usually pretty frigging good.

For that matter, for all the people clamoring for a new Metroid, didn't we confirm sometime back ago that Retro Studios (if I recall correctly, the brains behind the excellent Metroid Prime series) was interested in a WiiU project? Even if it's not Samus, it should be decent, huh?

No, still not interested. I've played most of their releases so far, and while I reckon they're goodish games, there's nothing for me to really get invested into.

I'm waiting to see how the new Smash turns out, that is what may sell me on it. Though I'm happy they're working on a new Starfox so I can't wait to see how that will turn out.

I'm not singling you out here; I'm just legitimately curious:

Hyrule Warriors (noteworthy because it is to combine both types of gameplay properly in one game)
Devil's 3rd
Bayonetta 2
Xenoblade Chronicles X
Splatoon
Project Guardian
Project Giant Robot
Wonderful 101
ZombiU.

No thoughts on any of these at all? Especially since most of them (all but Hyrule Warriors, Bayonetta and Xenoblades) are entirely new ips, and only 2 of them have actually been released to be playable?

Edit: Dear god, I hate this Justin Bieber thing. I feel like I'm talking to the same person no matter where I post since everyone has his face on it.

Oh I have thoughts, and that is I really don't give a damn about most of them.

I'm not going to go into detail but there are certain things I don't like in how they design and stylise their games. So I prefer to wait till they're released so I can I go into in depth research. Because after the Wii, I really need to confirm things now.

Out of the competition, Nintendo is by far the most interesting. So I'm not saying they suck, but they're not the Nintendo I used to love. I was a big ass Smash Bros fanboy once, so that's why my main focus is on the new Smash.

Also, I'm sorry to hear you're a victim of the mystery button. lol

To each his own. I came for smash, and found everything else I liked to be icing on the cake, but we like what we like.

It certainly doesn't help that I was trying to make a gif avatar and now I can't until this thing goes away...

Where's the, "I was going to get one before but now I don't want to" option? This E3 has really made me realize that even if Nintendo presents a solid offering, it simply isn't enough to carry the entire console with the majority of multi-platform games I care about not getting released for it.

If I buy a WiiU, it will be after the generation is done to get it and all the best games for a steal.
