I rolled with Squirtle in Red, because my cousin told me Charmander was "hard mode", and I didn't want to make the game too difficult the first time or use a plant. It was a blue fighting turtle, so I named it Leonardo. First pokemon I levelled to 100, too. Man, I haven't played since gold/silver... but looking at what seems to be one of the first cases of a game hitting all-out "DBZ Syndrome", that may be for the best.

Pikachu in Yellow

Trained him all the way to level 60 and then traded him to silver. Got him to 100 and evolved him into Raichu. Coolest pokemon ever. Too bad gameshark died while the game was in and erased the save

I always tend to go with the one in the box, in my first game RED, i was going to choose charmander, but in the end, i looked at bulbasaur and found him intriguing, so i got him instead

i mean, i had never played a game before that a plant could be so badass

sun beam is still one of my favourite moves, alongside with "leech seeds" or whatever they were called
