Also, everybody saying that "twenty ten" sounds like it's try too hard to be futuristic, are you saying you would pronounce a year like 1990 "one thousand nine hundred and ninety"?
No, you'd say "nineteen ninety".

I know this is a weird thread but I'm just curious what people call it.
Someone reads CAD...

OT: "Ten". Last year was "Oh-nine", everyone knows which millennium we're in (it's been the same for 10 years now, and won't change for a while...)
If I did I'd probably know what CAD is.

"Have a great first day of Twenty-Ten (or Two-thousand and Ten if you prefer, future hater)!"
OH that CAD! And no, I havn't read Ctrl-Alt-Del since the baby incident and the whole soap opera thing span wildly out of control.

Twenty ten. I suspect most mouth-breathers will be keeping up with the moronic 'two thousand and...' thing until about 2020, if only because after that the proper way becomes a lot quicker to sat.

2006 wasnt prenounced 20-06 it was 2,006 But if we look at 1999 it was 19-99, But you can call this year either of the two and it still works, 20-10 and 2,010..... i dont know why.. it just rolls off the tongue easier

Tweeduizendtien.

I guess that would translate to two thousand ten.

Two thousand ten would be the correct way of saying it but twenty ten just has a nicer ring to it.

2,010. 20-10 seems like we're trying too hard to make it sound like the futuristic society of the Jetsons.
That's exactly why I call it 20-10. The sooner we do this the sooner people will accept it's the future, and the sooner we get the hover cars.

How would you say the short version? Since 2009 was '09, what's the short version of this year?
I'm not sure. Somehow I have an urge to say "o"; "o-ten"?
Honestly, I don't think I would say any short version. I'd obviously write '10 but I'd probably use the long version in spoken language.

I like 20-10. Ans how'd you say the short version? Since 2009 was '09, what's this year?
Ten I guess. Or One-Oh if you you want to be weird.

EDIT: Wow this is close.
No, if I wanted to be weird I'd call it "year 201X and X=10"
