Not that it really matters but bi/pan transwoman here. I like people for who they are and how they make me feel - guess I'm a romantic. I prefer women usually, but open to anything. Sexuality is such a varied and fascinating topic for people who are open minded and honest enough with themselves to not only discuss it, but explore.

Heterosexual here. Rather, I'm fairly certain I am.

Generally when I think of romance I prefer men but at the same time I haven't found anyone I've met physically attractive since middle school to the point where I've actually forgotten what it feels like.

I'm heterosexual, even though I should probably pick Asexual.

Is it still Hetero if you find the female body attractive but the logical side of your brain knows that perusing a relationship that could possibly result in sex can only ever lead to pain suffering and needing to find another place to hide a body...

I mean... That was a joke. You don't HIDE bodies you dissolve them in... You know what I'm just going to stop typing now.

Pretty sure I'm hetero. I've a lot of issues regarding sex and intimacy, but it hasn't stopped me from having attractions and dating, and I'm pretty much always attracted to the females.

This is probably one of the most idiotic and irrelevant threads I've ever seen.

And it's still probably one of the most posted.

For the sake of avoiding an off topic infraction, hetero. Not boring though. Mainly because the very notion of heterosexuality being "boring" implies that other sexualities are somehow superior, which frankly isn't true as all sexualities are equally interesting.

At the moment, asexuality is the second most popular option after heterosexuality.

Oh, Escapist, you never change.
Am I missing something about the Escapist?

OT: True blue ace here. I've never been attracted to anybody and quite frankly I find the idea of dating and all that to be tedious, but hey! What ever floats your boat, just don't invite me sailing.

Hey, I have a question. What exactly is the difference between pansexuality and bisexuality? I know there is a difference, but I've never really been clear on what exactly it is. In fact I don't know much about pansexuality at all. Would you please elucidate me?
Definitions kinda vary, but generally, a bisexual is someone who is attracted to both men and women, pansexual doesn't care what the gender or the sex of their partner is and can be attracted to people who are neither male nor female or to totally non-physical qualities.
Zachary Amaranth said:
That's kind of a contentious deal. Some people say bisexual includes everything, and others say it includes male and female.

Pansexual is an identity based around the notion that bisexual is the latter, and thus pansexual fills the former niche. This is the problem with language: even the same words might be different.

I put bisexual, though I've been in relationships with an FTM (who was living as a woman, but still), another who thought they might be FTM, two people who fell in that nebulous sort of "genderqueer" category, and one woman who IDed as a woman but really wanted a penis. Depending on who you ask, any of the above my DQ me from bisexuality. Or they might not.

I've personally never been one to care about what bits people I liked had/wanted/felt they should have. It's not quite accurate to say I don't care, but I don't care in any meaningful sense that would stop me from dating/sleeping with one.

So the difference is either nothing or the difference between two points and all the points. It depends. I use bisexual in part because people react to the concept of pansexuality with a "special snowflake" mentality.

But then, given the number of people I've seen go "ew tranny!" even in the bi camp, maybe I am a special snowflake. >.<

The gist of it is pretty simple. Bisexual is attraction to male and female, where as pansexual is attraction to virtually anyone regardless of where they fall in the gender spectrum. (Male, Female, Trans, Cis, ect) And often times physical attraction doesn't play as large of a role in romantic interest as personality compatibility does. Basically like Bi, but more open and a few other different nuances.
Okay, that all makes sense. Sexuality can be really be complicated, huh?

I've seen MTF transsexuals who are fairly attractive looking, at the risk of sounding like I'm jumping on a bandwagon, I think I might be pansexual. Although I think I'll agree with Zachary, if anyone asks (and I feel like being honest) I might just say "bi."

Well anyway, thank you all for answering my question!

Though how many of you asexuals have no sexual or romantic contact at all? Are you all under 40?

I'm an asexual but I'm still romantically attracted to men and have never considered dating a woman - is 'heteroromantic' a term?
It most certainly is!
OT: I can be sexually attracted to either gender (and even then, mostly to females), but I can't see myself getting into a relationship with another guy. Put myself down as heterosexual for the poll.
You're bi, guy! :D Just with strong female romantic bias, but you'd probably fool around with the right guy, am I correct?

People think bisexual has to mean 50/50, but if you're attracted to both genders, regardless of what amount, you fall into the bisexual catagory.

There's a wide range of tastes under the "bi" catagory from romantic bias to sexual bias, where a person might enjoy sexual play with one gender but not have a desire for a romantic relationship. There's way more bi people than what one would think, but misconseptions sort of limit people's understanding.

Sapiosexual: Aroused by intelligence.[footnote]Otherwise known as my new excuse for not getting laid.[/footnote]

On a more serious note, I identify as bisexual. Note that I use the term 'bi' to mean 'two or more'; although I could probably classify as pansexual, I'm not comfortable with using that term to describe myself.

I feel like this is a good moment to bring up the bisexual umbrella [http://fc05.deviantart.net/fs71/i/2011/324/6/a/the_bisexual_umbrella_by_drynwhyl-d4gq9ji.jpg].

You realize that being trans has nothing to do with your orientation? You could take those bottom 4 out entirely and this poll wouldn't lose an ounce of meaning. Unless of course you're referring to people who are inherently attracted to trans individuals. In which case the wording is just confusing.

I consider myself Bisexual but I prefer men over women. As I often like to describe it to people, I prefer penis overall but every now and then I get a craving for pussy and/or tits.

Plus, I have a boyfriend whom is the only person I've ever actually had sex with, and I've never actually dated a girl soooo... take that for what you will.

I am a heterosexual female.
But I might as well be asexual because I have not dated anyone forever.
I will also never will have much of sex life because I have Interstitial Cystitus.
I do not know if that makes me asexual or what.

I'm just a heterosexual guy. However, I have developed an attraction to certain tans-women, pre-op trans-women (so, women that still retain the male genitalia), thanks to some of my voyages into the ever-colossal infinity that is internet porn. Whether this has any actual effect regarding sexuality, I know not. Since they're more feminine than anything else though, I still regard it as heterosexuality, even if they do have penises.

I may be wrong however. I find anything regarding trans- to be pretty damn confusing.
I think this post highlights the futility of attempting to box in our orientations in a neat little list.

I would say however, that until you try these things and then actually determine that you like them, its hard to really say in you like them. It could be that you would like to have sex with a women with a penis. Or, it could be that you like to watch on a computer screen, women with penis' engaging in sexual acts. This of course further highlights the complexity of sexuality.

Asexual, I will say it flat out I cannot wrap my head around relationships or why anyone would want them, I've been in a few and it was just absolutely just ehh, everything was a chore, was happier as friends.
Was really confused in school even asked my friend in Middle School if there was a thing as "No-sexual" was told "No, that's stupid" and was confused till just about after highschool when I found out there was such a thing and I was very much it.
I've been told it's impossible, it's stupid, it can't work because humans are wired to fuck. Welp, I don't care what you're supposed to be, I can tell you I'm easily not interested in either gender (especially not guys unngh drawing classes were fun am I right?).
Probably blurted out more than I should have but in all honesty it's just amusing when I've told people asexual, I have to explain it to them, you straights and gays have it easy! I kid I kid, you guys have to be in relationships haha! ...Stay awesome :)

There's a reason people have adopted a variation of the Doctor Who "Blink" quote: wibbly-wobbly, sexy-wexy. ;)
