Just cause you don't like it doesn't mean it wasn't great.Lagao said:IX or X
They were the best ones.
Don't play VII, it was really horrible and I don't get why the fanboys love it. Probably because it was the first one in 3D.
Story was terribad.
I was surprised to find FFIX winning, too. When it first came out, FFIX was fairly unpopular (for a Final Fantasy, I mean). It was derided by some, but mostly it was just ignored. Often its fans blame the colourful presentation and the deliberate reversion to more traditional Final Fantasy elements; personally, I think it's more that the timing wasn't right. FFVII and FFVIII were insanely big sellers at the time, and the latter turned many off the series.Sober Thal said:I saw this thread and was surprised to see IX winning, so I went and spent the $10 on it from the PSN....
Holy shit! The beginning is great! I am so happy you made this thread, and I saw how people voted. I was a FF VII and XIII guy, I didn't like the older ones that much because of the constant- explore every inch of this boring sand castle till you discover some side tower way off to the side....
Now I have a new (for me) a jrpg I am enjoying. I was always under the impression the first hour (at least) was a test/task to be completed, now I am enjoying an exciting new world.
I know I sound kinda cheesy, but I don't care!
Thanks for making this thread that just happened to guide me to something I like.
I loved it when it came out. Imagine is IX were popular when it came out. We may have missed out on X, but there may have been a return to the more old school Final Fantasys.Clunks said:I was surprised to find FFIX winning, too. It seems that FFIX has since been rediscovered. I still hold it up as one of the series' finest.
I really wouldn't. The human looking characters make their idiocy stand out so much. They wander to mount doom and back just to find people and then immediately hand them over to who ever asks without a second thought. Not only that, but the game basically pulls plot resolutions out of it's backside without any thought towards reason or even basic sense. Perhaps if they looked like idiots, I'd be more forgiving to the horrible writing, but they have to throw in realistic rendering that would give all the protagonists wrist injuries whenever they so much as pick up their favourite weapon.Sean.Devlin said:8 has a frustrating magic system, but if you don't expect anything, you shouldn't be too annoyed. I loved the story and the Junction system with the summon creatures. The characters look human in that one, rather than cartoony.
I would choose 8.
I am officially creeped out.Sean.Devlin said:Did you at least like the gunblade? Trigger!!!!![]()
